My first car and chatting to Engelbert Humperdinck

March has flown by hasn't it!

Well done if you correctly guessed last week's 'just for fun' guess the picture. It was a pair of 'in ear' earphones. Another at the end of this week's blog for you.

It's been an incredibly busy week here at QVC and it's a shame to think Jewellery Month is almost to a close 🙁 However, we have a fabulous grand finale coming up and also Destination Gems which I'll come onto a little later.

I'd like to send a big thanks to my local garage for fixing my car! Every time I went over a bump there was a strange noise from the suspension. Apparently a spring had broken and needed replacing – I'm thinking it could be down to a pot hole I ran into recently?

I know very little about cars. Don't get me wrong, I can change a wheel and even top up the windscreen screen wash! But anything else that goes on under the bonnet… no chance!

I've been driving for 25 years now (or as my son likes to put it, a quarter of a century!) and I remember passing my test like it was yesterday.

On passing my test, I then saved and saved for my very first car. A bright yellow Ford Fiesta. I loved my little car and it served me well and never let me down. Everyone I knew, at the time, had a name for their car. What was yours? I never had one, she was just, quite simply, my little yellow car! I took great care of her and drove her with pride. After a while I decided to upgrade the aerial to an electric one. I was really excited, how cool, I thought! I bought the aerial, took it home and put it to one side… where it stayed. I had no idea of what wire went where or how to install the switch! So the manual aerial remained. However, I knew exactly where the windscreen wash went! In fact, there wasn't a button on the dashboard to dispense the wash onto the screen. It was a little foot pump to the left of the clutch pedal. Brilliantly simple and it worked beautifully.

Engelbert Calling

You may have seen me interviewing the brilliant Engelbert Humperdinck on QVC TV today, if not, here's another chance to find out about his new album of duets, Engelbert Calling

Some more exciting shows on the way at QVC. As I mentioned, Jewellery Month for March is drawing to a close, but not before the grand finale with me this Monday 31st at 7pm. Then it's the return of Destination Gems on Tuesday 1st April at 7pm. I do hope you can join me.

Guess the picIn the meantime I'd like to welcome all the new followers on twitter. I'm @mecharliebrook. It's great hearing from you and special thanks to those who've tweeted me pictures of their adorable pets. Fabulous!

I'll leave you with this week's guess the picture!

Take care,

Charlie x
