Recharging my batteries

I hope you enjoyed Super Sunday and have been savouring the recent beautiful weather we've been having – Richard Jackson finally got it right (after 15 years!). It's a standing joke between Richard and I that at the beginning of every gardening season he makes some statement like "It's set to be the best summer ever" or something similar!

Ironically this year he tempered his enthusiasm, which is just as well given the poor spring but fingers crossed the summer seems to be making up for it. Anyone who decided to have a 'staycation' this July has been well rewarded.

I love to travel, but I've often said that particularly when the sun shines – there's a huge number of reasons to stay and holiday in the UK. I'm taking a couple of weeks away from the Q myself and I always try to make the best of my breaks in terms of recharging my batteries etc – I do get regular breaks in my shift pattern but I find I never really switch off unless it's at least a couple of weeks. Are you the same? Or do you only need a day to find that inner serenit?

When we go away we take Toby down to my mum's in West Sussex, she loves having him and he gets on very well with her black Pomeranian Cross Pixie – she walks him at least twice a day but he's always a few pounds heavier when we pick him up! Then again so am I after my hols! It's a time to eat, drink and be merry! You're probably saying that sounds like your last 'In the Kitchen' hour Dale! Especially when Jilly Jones mixes me up a cocktail in the Ninja! Wah haay!

PhotocompSeriously, I hope whatever you decide to do, that you can indeed find some relaxation and recharge your batteries this summer in preparation for a fantastic third and fourth quarter of amazing shopping to be found at the Q in our 20th year. There's some exciting new shows and I'll share news of the ones I'm involved with as soon as I can.

Talking of which the Dale & Charlie – 3 Hour Diamond Spectacular I mentioned last week is definitely on for the 4th August at 5pm and a very generous easy pay offer is planned for every item!! Could that be a clue as to what shocked Charlie and I in this week's "Just for Fun" photo comp? Or do you have other ideas?

If so, let me know what's on your mind for the speech bubble in the comments section.

Until next time, take care, stay safe and be happy!!

Dale x

    hi Dale.
Hope you are having a great holiday, I think you and Charlie are saying in the speech bubble “ARGHHHHHHH charlie we have been let loose again to do another show, isnt it fantastic”.
Anyway on a serious note, you and Charlie are two of my favourite presenters always making me laugh.
    Take care Dale
    Best Wishes

    Hiya D ….. only meeeeeee!!
I hope you’re enjoying a bit of time off, Gail says you’re probably parading around somewhere in your short shorts. Just imagining that is keeping me going until you’re back!
I’ve just had a week’s ‘staycation’ but way too hot for me. Like you, it usually takes me a while to switch off which is why I don’t tend to take many odd days but prefer a week or two weeks at a time. You’re lucky with being able to take Toby to your mum’s. Looking after Casper, aka ‘my little tiger’ is too much for my mum now so we don’t get away much these days. Catteries are probably very good but a big no no for me. He’s never stayed away from home and, at 16, I don’t intend to start now.
That photo of you and Charlie is well funny but. believe it or not, I’m stuck for words this week!! Must be the heat frazzling me creative brain cells!! Anyhow, this is my best efforts on this one:
“AYYAYAYYYYYY ……. there’s the photo of Ma’s big un’s …… they’re massive …. no wonder RJ has being keeping em all to himself”!! or
“OUOWWWWWWWWW the eck we gonna do the show on August 4th ……. there’s a full moon due”!! (Soz about that one D, been watching Twilight again this week!!)
And last ….. you’re looking at the Q’s brief for the Diamond spectacular show ……
“AAARRRGGHHHHH …. show models Ma and Gail ………. ow we gonna get out of doing it??”!!

Dale’icious, I’m back. Hope you and the family are having a lovely holiday.
Dale, I spent an hour the other evening typing comments for your Blog, only to see them disappear before my very eyes; I was gutted I can tell you. Well, here I am again but I’ll keep it short and sweet (like me). Firstly, I’m always recharging my batteries, you should know that by now!! As long as I’m not in pain I’m as relaxed and unwound as I ever wanna be, wherever I am. You can take me round the block and I’d be content. Nothing rains on my parade when this disease in under control.
Big ones, small ones, I’m happy with either (BREAKS MA, BREAKS).
I’ve written you a ‘Summer Limerick’ with a holiday feel in honour of your Short Shorts Dale:
A man on the beach playing ball
Wearing short shorts way, way too small
With one mightly cough they ripped and flew off
And we all got a jolly good eyeful
As I took a nice stroll by the sea
A man offered his cockles to me
I said “That’s very nice, but I’ll have to think twice,
Cos I’m fussy what I have for me tea.”
“Oh noooooooooooooooooooooo, they’ve banned us from all the ‘foodie’ shows, what’re we gonna do?”
Missing you on the TV Dale, but that Charlie is doing a very good job.
Ma, if I lived nearer I would gladly look after Casper for you; he’s an absolute beauty. All animals are very safe in my hands (apart from D, of course).
    LOL D xx

Well, seeing as G’s got her little ditties out for the lads, I just have to join in!
“What can it be that’s making us squeal?
Just what is planned for the big show reveals?
Little and large …. that’s us diamonds of course
Yes, we’re getting our rocks out in our short shorts”!!!!

Dale’icious, another ‘Just for Fun’ contribution:
