Recharge, reenergise aaaand relax….

Cake FridaysSometimes life goes by in such a blur with just how busy we are these days but I think it's important to make time to look after body, mind and spirit.

I've been successfully getting down to a healthier weight with Diet Chef, simultaneously meditating and exercising with my Pilates machine and felt it would do the spirit a world of good to share a girly pampering day with my wonderful daughter, and best friend, Chrissie.

Chrissie is a full time freelance make up artist and has been rather hectic with bridal shows, fashion shoots and the recent, famous London Fashion Week.

I've been busier than ever preparing for a play with New Dreams Theatre which I am not only co-producing but playing a part in. We've just finished auditioning for the cast, meeting with set designers, lighting engineers and so on. More to come on that soon so keep watching the blog and my twitter.

The TeamMy daughter and I have been Liz Earle fans for years and I was thrilled to discover a Liz Earle store complete with treatment room not far from us, in Guildford!

We love our mummy-daughter days together so we thought this would be a perfect part of one of those special days. Here are some of the wonderful ladies from the store; Jemima, Tracey, Carol and Lydia. Lovely Gabby met us, too, but had to leave early so we didn't get her in the photo!

Upon arrival at Liz Earle we met therapist, Jemima, and completed a customer consultation interview and were offered a drink.

I had beautiful apple & ginger fruit tea and Chrissie partook of lime infused water whilst we breathed in that calming and familiar Liz Earle aroma filled air. Already we were feeling healthier and de stressed.

Chrissie Treatment Cake FridaysChrissie looked like a little baby all cozied up on the treatment couch. I took a piccy and left her to it whilst I observed the in-store assistants helping customers choose products right for them and even offering them complimentary goodies with their purchases. What a lovely touch!

Another lovely touch is 'Cake Friday'. Luckily we booked on on a Friday so experienced this for ourselves but its a long standing, company-wide tradition within the Liz Earle family.

Me in treatment roomAll stores take part, even at Liz Earle HQ on the Isle of Wight. How nice is that? Everything in moderation is ok!

My turn in the treatment room…bliss! What a beautiful drift-away-and-completely-lose-yourself experience!

I can now highly recommend the signature facial. I don't want to spoil it for you by telling you exactly what it entails but it was more than I could have imagined including a fabulous foot massage. Thanks Lydia!

Some of you are familiar with the adventures of Tedward and Bert. If not, feel free to browse back through my blog until you find them.

Tedward and Bert Chrissie Make-UpThey're two cheeky little Steiff bears who always want a piece of the action. Here you can see them laying back and relaxing on the therapist's couch. The steam brought their fur up a treat!

After our scrumptious facials Chrissie and I just had to check out the make up. What a wonderful array of goodies to choose from! Needless to say we just had to pick up a few bits.

You know what a shopper I am, my daughters almost as bad. She fell in love with their eye shadow blending brush for her pro make up artist kit.

Finally, we went for a late lunch in one of Chrissie's favourite fast food eateries – YoSushi! It was so nice just to catch up with each other, have a really nice mum & daughter natter complete with giggles. She always laughs at how much wasabi paste I get through in YoSushi. I just love hot foods!

Girly food and treatsSo, all in all, a magnificent treat of a day. It's so important to remember the one thing that money can't buy – your time. It can be lost in the blink of an eye so my advice is to take a little time for the people you love the most and also for yourself to enable you to function at your best. We often forget about ourselves so I'm commanding you now – whether it's an hours soak in the bath, an afternoon watching some fave movies or just getting your nails done, take some time for you this week.

I'll see you soon, lots of love,

Catherine xxx

What a great endorsement for a treat day catherine, and with your best friend your daughter! Sounds like complete bliss and funnily enough something my husband mentioned to me only this morning, that my 3 girls have missed out on time together doing normal things like shopping, having lunch etc because of my disability. So reading your account was moving for me. You seem to have such a special relationship and being best friends is so precious. I know your daughter will be so proud of you and what you have done in your life, all the while making sure the children came first.
So well done on your latest theatre venture, sound fab and brave to be doing so much as well as taking part! Do you have more than 24 hrs in your days? As you always seem to fit so much in!
Looking forward to your shows over the winter fashion event…more money to be spent I feel.
Take care and good luck with your venture,
    Lots of love dianexx

    Hi Catherine,
It sounds as if you and your daughter Chrissie had a great time together when you had your treatments at Liz Earle. It is a shame we do not have one nearer where I live as I would love to go and be pampered. You both must have felt great afterwards. And all the extra pampering makes the day. Cake Friday sounds the day to book.
Chrissie sounds as if she has been really busy with the make-up and you also with the play. I often think where has that week, month even year gone, it is because we are always so busy and you are right we do need to have some me time.
You said you are keeping you weight good with Diet Chef and your exercise. You always look great when you are on air.
Anyway Catherine glad you both enjoyed your day out together and you remember what you tell us take more time out for yourself. That is something that is not always easy is it when you are so busy.
I find my time to relax is when I go out with my husband and some friends and we train our dogs, especially the young pups, I find nothing more relaxing than being with animals. I work in our business and when I have had enough of rude people on the phone, that is the time for a cuddle with the dogs and cats.
Anyway Catherine take care and look after those gorgeous cats.
    Love Jean XX

    Hi Catherine
It looks like you and your daughter had a wonderful day out at the luxurious Liz Earle salon, the cakes looked absolutely delicious!
It is such a pity that Liz Earle and her business partner have sold their business to Avon.
All the best for your upcoming play!
