As regular readers will know Toby is just a big softie and in some circumstances already Ellie is the boss! The good news is that there isn’t a nasty bone in her body and she’s growing into a very loving dog.
If she pushes Toby too far he’ll voice his disapproval but, for example, if Ellie finishes her food first and Toby is still eating, she’ll casually walk over to his bowl and he moves away to let her finish it! Girl Power!!
Now I have asserted my position as Pack leader (Mrs F may have something to say on that!) and I give Toby his food first and I stop Ellie going to his bowl – but he’s going to have to “man up” at some point. Come on Toby!
I love watching dogs – there is a refreshing transparency to them and they get so much pleasure from simple things – perhaps that’s why they’re man’s best friend? Here’s a quick video I put together showing Ellie’s feminine guile in getting a stick from Toby – it made me smile.
Whilst presenting a jewellery show the other evening I mentioned the time I was locked in a cell in Italy ! It was actually a strong room where all of the Gold was stored prior to being made into gold chains etc but they wouldn’t let me be photographed holding it outside of the cell! Well I found the picture, sorry it’s so small!
The picture was taken by the lovely Claudia Sylvester whilst we were in Vincenza – judging by my boyish looks it must have been at least 12 years ago. Can you imagine how many hundreds of thousands that 24-carat gold ingot must be worth today? It weighed a ton!
On Monday I have my last show of the Andi Peters’ Food Fest series and we’ll introduce the winner of our competition, Katie, who’ll enjoy (hopefully) a tour of our studios with myself, have a professional make-up artist apply her on-screen look, then finally will be appearing on-air as a “tasting guest”.
This is the first time I’ve been involved in a competition of this type and wondered if this is something you would like to see more of?
Perhaps if you have a moment you could let me know by leaving a comment below.
I’ve been “relaxing” off-air recently by getting involved in some DIY. I love to keep my hand in – not literally, obviously! I know what I can do and what I can’t! That comes with experience, of which I have the scars to prove it. I still like to challenge myself occasionally, trying to master new skills.
I’m happy to fit a replacement light for example, but I’ll call in expert “Sparks” when I need to get bigger jobs done. My DIY mantra is, “don’t mess with electrics unless you really understand what you’re doing”, and even then, will you have the necessary certification? This can be a consideration if you’re thinking of moving home in the near future.
On Monday – as well as the Andi Peters’ Food Fest Finale – I’ll be presenting a cosy TSV from Northern Nights with Susie Adams. It’s a brilliant value eight-piece flannel bedding set! Yes, two sets; one stripe and the other in a block colour.
I put in on my daughter’s bed in the Dusky Rose and finished it off with a beautiful throw from Kelly Hoppen – Ali loves sleeping in Northern Nights flannel all year round but particularly in these colder months – she still likes to go to bed with a hot-water bottle and the super soft Northern Nights flannel helps to create her cosy slumber nest (she’ll hate me calling it that)!
After that I’ll be joining Kim Mendelsohn for her 17th Anniversary of Kim & Co.
It was lovely to work with home guru Alison Cork (you can see her baubles in the main picture) last Thursday and I’m pleased to say that we are back together again this coming Thursday with more classy accents to your home at Christmas.
So, until next time, take care and stay warm.
