Finally, summer seems to have arrived, and with it my first strawberries have ripened. You may remember me mentioning on here that I bought the Gardening Pick of the Month strawberry plants earlier in the year? Well now I have ‘picked’ and eaten the first fruits and very tasty they were too! There’s nothing quite like home-grown is there? I have mine in proper strawberry pots to try and prevent the slugs from getting them, or you could make sure you use Richard Jackson‘s slug pellets, which work well for me in other areas of the garden.
We were able to sit outside until very late in the evening for the first time this year last Saturday and the garden looked so pretty with all the lights on – some solar, some battery and some wired in. The eagle looked resplendent with his up-lighter don’t you think? I have the eagle because I am a Crystal Palace fan and I’m sad to see that one of our young eagles, Aaron Wan Bissaka has flown off to Manchester Utd. What a huge talent he is.
Our problem now will be to try and keep the vultures away from Wilfried Zaha, to continue with the bird theme. I keep meaning to tell Gill Gauntlett that I have managed to set my recent TSV purchase of colour-changing solar lights to just before the blue turns to red so they actually look red and blue (my team’s colours), but unfortunately it doesn’t show up in photos – looks cool in real life though!
On the subject of football, well done to the Lionesses, England Women’s football team for making the semi-final of the World Cup. They came up against tough opposition as the USA are the reigning champions and on the night it was probably the right result. BUT, if only the goal hadn’t been an inch offside and if only the penalty had been scored. Will either of our football teams ever make a World Cup final again, I wonder??
Little Girl Missing is three weeks old today, but I’m not going to mention anything about my latest book except to say that I will be on BBC Radio Nottingham this coming Monday on the Alan Clifford Show at around 2pm if you fancy a listen – I think you may be able to pick it up if you are not in the area but own a DAB radio like my Bose. I’m pretty sure QVC will get a mention too.
And also, after struggling to stop Fiona Brackenbury from talking about my book on air, she persuaded me to do my first IGTV live! If you follow Fiona on Instagram, I think you may still be able to watch it on her Story…. if you’re quick!
I think we can safely say she likes the book! Decleor are celebrating their 24th anniversary of one-hour shows with us and we had some great deals in yesterday’s show – more shows next week.
While we’re talking beauty, I promised you a video of how to apply Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, our new Beauty Product of the Month, so here it is. Apologies for the lack of make-up, we filmed it at 07.30 this morning so I was barely awake!
This latest limited edition fragranced version is in the 1 litre size and is £61.44, is on three interest-free instalments, will last ages and it’s zero P&P for the whole of July…. or as long as stocks last. My hair loves it!
You may think I’ve been busy enough this past month with my birthday, book launch, editing the next book, QVC and wedding stuff so what on earth made me think it would be a good idea to get my crochet hook out and make something for our Kipling guest, Marie-Francoise’s beautiful baby daughter, Mia.
I agree…. I’m a little bit bonkers, but my heart was in the right place and anyway it’s good practise for if we eventually have any grandchildren – that did sound like a bit of a hint didn’t it!! I was a bit rusty at first, but I soon got into the swing of it and I particularly like the hat. I’ve made the 3-6 month size as I wasn’t sure how quickly I would get it finished so hopefully it should fit Mia around early September.
I had a visit to the hospital on Wednesday about my polio-affected ankle, and it’s not great news. The results of the MRI scan show damage to both sets of ligaments, worn cartilage on one side and a bony spur growth on the other – no wonder it’s been ‘crunching’. Next step is to see an ankle specialist to see if anything can be done. It’s frustrating for me as I’ve always tried to keep fit and mobile and my ankle is now preventing me from doing as much as I would like to. Still, it could be so much worse.
This is my working weekend on QVC, but I am only in tomorrow as I booked Sunday off to go to a party without realising it is a Liz Earle TSV. The good news is if, like me, you are going to be busy on Sunday you can pre-order it already. It’s a lovely collection featuring two Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleansers (one original and one Rose & Lavender), plus Instant Boost, your choice of Skin Repair Moisturiser, Rosemary & Rock Rose Body Wash and Rosemary & Rock Rose Body Cream. All of that for under £45 and you can set up the Auto Delivery for two further collections at the reduced price if you like the sound of it.
We also already have Tuesday’s Nails Inc TSV on pre-order. It’s called ‘Saved by the Beach’ (perfect title for me with the wedding just over seven weeks away – eek!) and is phenomenal value at under £29 for 6 colours and a quick dry top coat. I’ve already worn Afternoon Napping, a metallic blue, and Poolside Paradise, a hot coral, but I might change to Sunning at Sunset for Jewellery Day tomorrow.
Speaking of which, you might have already seen me sporting the Radley TSV watch in coral which will be first aired tonight at 9pm, the new launch time for our TSVs as from Tuesday of this week.
It is also available in six other colours.
Other favourite brands to watch out for on the day are Michelle Mone for Diamonique, Lola Rose, Frank Usher and One Button, along with Gems, Diamonds and Diamonique. We also have two new brands premiering tomorrow. Escape by Melissa Odabash (the swimwear designer) and I particularly like the ‘LOVE’ pendant which comes in either silver or gold-plated and has an adjustable chain up to 50cm – take a look at it here.
The other new brand is Annie Haak and looks to be exactly my cup of tea, with feathers, hearts, stars and guardian angels – I believe Katy is presenting that show in the morning at 10am.
Right, I must go and wash my my hair before heading into QVC for a whole hour of Philip Kingsley at 3pm and then my usual double dose of Fashion on Friday.
Have a great weekend
