Quality ‘Corrie’ time with Mummy Cole, getting ready for summer & fun at the fair!

Coronation StreetHow’s your week been? Mine’s been full of fun. Mum & I had the most amazing time on a hot day in Manchester. We ventured out on to the cobbles of Coronation Street on their brilliant tour. We actually got to see inside the old ROVERS RETURN set that has been used for over 50 years! Incredible.

If you didn’t know, the tour was of the old set, because in December last year they moved to a new, bigger, purpose-built site at MediaCity in nearby Salford. The whole family are Corrie watchers and I even roped Austen into watching when we first met almost 8 years ago. The soap is in the Cole Family’s blood. Paul, our fabulous tour guide, kept marvelling at how excited I was. And he very kindly took pics of Mum and I as we wandered along gobsmacked at all the sets. If you click here you can see more pics on my Facebook page. What a day! Also thanks so much to my fab pal, Jackie Kabler, who is also a mega Corrie fan! She told me about the tours going on sale, she can't wait to take her Mum in August!

Then we stayed overnight in the Malmaison hotel, and bumped into Daniel Ryan, Sally Lindsey, Bobby Ball and Ruth Maddoc who were all staying in the same place. They were in the middle of filming another favourite series of mine: Mount Pleasant which is on SKY Living.

Diet ChefAusten and I are going on hols soon – the beach is calling and so I want to be a little bit more trim before I struggle into my swimsuit. Last week I ordered the new Diet Chef 20 day Weekends Off pack – it was delivered today and I can’t wait to dive in! Yum Yum Yum! Put Monday 2nd June in your diary because I’ve got a Diet Chef show with Gail Samways at 2pm: can’t wait!! I lost 8 pounds on it back in January and another 2lbs afterwards because I kept being good!

The last Bank Holiday I was working at QVC launching a Richard Jackson flower TSV, but for the Whitsun Bank Holiday just gone, Austen was in London with me. It was forecast to be warm and sunny so we were spontaneous (which doesn’t happen that often) and we jumped on a train to Brighton.

Tea roomIt was teaming with people but we made a beeline for a highly recommended tea room we’ve never been to before called Blackbird on Ship Street, decked out in 1930s memorabilia and playing music from the era. We gorged ourselves: I had Camomile and Lavender tea, Austen had English Breakfast, we had Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese sandwiches, Austen had Ham and Celeriac Roulade and you can see the cakes. Oooooh the cakes! Then we relived our youth and jumped on a few rides at the fair at the end of the pier. Of course we stopped by at the Craft Beer Company pub on the way home for a cheeky snifter: we indulged in some Victorian Ruby Mild by Dark Star Brewery. Lush lush lush! Check out more photos here

Have a good week y’all!

    Hi Marverine,
Great to hear that you and your Mum enjoyed your Corrie tour. You are always so enthusiastic on-screen so I can imagine you having great fun there!
Your day trip to Brighton sounds wonderful. It’s one of my favourite places as I grew up on the outskirts of London and we would regularly as a family go down there. One Birthday of mine my Dad parked our VW Camper van right by the seafront and me and my friends having a cooked lunch of sausages in the van. A few years ago, a work conference was in Brighton and every morning I’d just go for a stroll along the beach. Bliss!
If Ian and I find ourselves there, we will have to find that tearoom! As we both don’t drink, Afternoon Tea is one of our fave treats.
I had a wonderful day with my nieces and baby nephew last week. I only see them every 2/3 months and I spent the whole day playing with them. The girls took it in turns to play “teacher”, I was always a pupil(!) and they were in their element. When they wanted to be naughty, they pretended to be a boy. According to them, girls don’t misbehave?!
Last but not least, have a fab holiday won’t you – you both more than deserve a break. ENJOY!
    Lots of love,
    Beth XXX

HI Beth, sounds like the day spent with your nieces and baby nephew was marvellous! Oh it’s such fun playing with little ones – they have such an incredible innocence and a sense of fun that it really does perk up your spirit. I still think of my nieces (now in their mid 20s) as girls. In fact the whole family still refers to the Nat and Nade as ‘the girls’ even though they are wonderful young ladies. Boys are naughtier than girls, I reckon. Some of the stories Austen tells me of him, his brother and his mates playing as kids – lawdy they were little tearaways! I wasn’t brave enough to even be naughty as a little girl because my Mum was very strict with all of us! lol!
Yes you and Ian need to check into that tearoom in Brighton – it’s tiny but is perfectly perched on a corner so you can watch the world go by and the many characters of the city strolling along. Fascinating it was.
My last blog before my hols is going up soon : I’m revealing my summer beauty items for my holidays. Be in touch asap I’m back xxxxxxxxx love to Ian
