I know that some of you will tell me that your daughters started planning 'The Dress' towards the end of their Year 10. I intentionally stated daughter as I realise that most sons would have only thought about their suits a week or so ago. "Mars and Venus" rings a bell.
Actually my two were pretty sorted a few weeks back due to my wife's involvement, although it was left to me to go out with Jack and buy his shirt, tie and shoes – a feat achieved with the minimum of fuss in about 12 minutes (much to my wife's frustration).
They had a great time and arranged with a number of their friends to turn up in a fabulous 1940's vintage bus. It was like something from Dad's Army and the charming Driver reminded me a little of Jack from 'On the Buses' dressed in his uniform, with a welcoming smile and cheeky banter (but no fag hanging out of his mouth!) all in all a class act.
The two of them looked very smart and all grown up – and I was an extremely proud dad. As I snapped the photo, it was also a reminder of how long I've been at QVC, as they were only just sitting up when I attended my first auditions in 1997. There was another proud moment for me when I discovered that Ali had chosen to wear the Diamonique Tanzanite necklace and pendant that I had designed for QVC some years ago, as it went perfectly with the colour of her dress and I'm pleased to say, got quite a few admiring comments (although she never let on the name of it's designer) – Quite right too! Some of you may have bought it also – it was nicknamed Dale's Titanic necklace!
Toby got in on the act too and appeared in many of the pre-prom photos – I shot this picture of him as Jack teased him with a deflated Rugby ball and chased him round the garden in his prom suit (like you do!)
Mars and Venus!
Although I was due to be off this weekend, I will actually be in on Sunday morning – as I'm sure you will have noticed from the promo's – we have a Special Event – "SUPER SUNDAY". A fantastic Day of Today's Special Values!! Yes in the plural – every hour!
We had our first Super Sunday last year and it proved to be such a huge success with a stunning array of brands at a TSV price, every hour for the whole day! I am be delighted to be presenting TSV's from Richard Jackson, Samsung, Steiff, Collier Campbell, Skagen and Murano Gold in my stint between 9am and midday. I'll be ably assisted by Catherine and Pipa as well and it will certainly be an unmissable day for all QVC fans.
If you follow me on Twitter @dalefranklintv – I'll be posting pictures and approx timings as I can on Sunday Morning – if you aren't on Twitter – I'm sure if you stay tuned we'll be previewing upcoming products throughout the Shows, personally I can't wait.
BREAKING NEWS! I found out this week that Me Buddy, (Charlie) and I are to present another Diamond Spectacular in early August – it's planned for the 4th around 5pm – if that changes I'll let you know through my blogs and Twitter. It's set to be another 3 hour Extravaganza for Diamond lovers and we're hoping to have some exciting news regarding Easy Pays for the show – To be confirmed! Watch this space.
Here is this week's 'Just for fun' photo comp which was taken at a recent 'Jewellery Day' customer preview event. Please leave your suggestions for the speech bubble in the comments section - I love reading your comments and some of them are pure genius!
