And she’s back! Did you miss me?
It’s been a wonderful pressing of the pause button. I remember thinking years ago that this would be a mighty fine superpower to possess, to be able to just pause… actually I remember thinking I wanted everyone else to pause, kind of like musical statues! And then I would be able to carry on, calmly and with ease until I was ready to release the world back to whatever they were doing!
This pause button was simply a pause from all the usual; obviously school stopped for summer, so too all the clubs and lessons. I also chose to stop all my normal stuff as well so there was no QVC, no Twitter or Instagram and I have had a lovely recharge.
First there was a family holiday to Mexico and then my niece Philippa’s gorgeous wedding to Adam. Both were super fun and it was simply lovely to take this time and spend it together as I fear the time will come soon for Tom, Joe and Maddie to inevitably want their own times away… let’s hope not too soon.
Mexico was great and I luckily had bought the fabulous J Pillow after a Morning Show. Oh how pleased I was during the nine hour flight, as I kind of slept and certainly avoided the awfully sore neck I usually end up with. Dan and I did indulge in an amazing couples massage on the beach during the holiday, it truly helps to invigorate me and after such a busy summer with work Dan certainly needed the most heavy handed of the therapists. Poor girl, she was probably shattered after working on him!
The children were happy as we were also away with friends they have grown up with, it was a sort of “them and us” holiday. We did keep suggesting it may be nice to tell us they were heading off to lunch… but no, when we bumped into them they were just far too busy doing their own things. Lots of volleyball in the pool and eyeing up the good looking boys! (Maddie and her friend…) Joe took quite some time to apply his Ultrasun… it transpired his girlfriend, who was holidaying in France was setting her alarm so they could FaceTime! Aaah, young love… though I of course was full of the “we haven’t flown all this way for you to hole yourself up in a hotel room” etc, you can imagine!
The entertainment was superb in the evenings and the food was ridiculously good – such detail, such choice… such volume! All Inclusive certainly becomes the most cost effective with three teenagers. Tequila, I conceded, was actually quite delicious and we had fun, made some wonderful memories and thanks to Tan Accelerator and Ultrasun I had the best deepest tan ever.
I used the newer formula from Ultrasun, SPF 30 with tan accelerator. It will definitely be my choice now, as I had a fabulous depth of colour and not one burnt bit, though I do add SPF 50 in on those vulnerable bits, and the face formula for the face and neck.
I’m sure as carefully as I did it, let’s face it, come the autumnal days we shall be lamenting about the damage done as the light changes and we see our skin clearly again. I noticed some lovely offers in the coming weeks from Perricone, Liz Earle, Decleor and Elemis so we should be okay… thank goodness for QVC Beauty I say.
I worked on the premise that preparation is key and I did more masks and hydrated way more prior to the holiday and when away I was most often found with some kind of head wear… some more flattering than others as you can see!
But with Elasticiser and my Tweak’d haircare I think the hair survived okay. I bumped into Alison Young yesterday who said I will also love the range 72 for hair and I must try it, I knew I’d been away a while as I seem to have missed some fab new beauty products. Apparently 72 will moisturise hair beautifully so I’m giving it a go along with a reorder of Tweak’d (oh how pleased I was that I pressed the Auto Delivery back when we launched the range as my third delivery has just arrived this morning… phew!) I also have a Big Deal from Tweak’d arriving in my dressing room to trial which looks super, Rise and Shine Volumising, a three-piece collection which I can’t wait to experience and report back about as I know it’s such a crucial segment of the hair care market it’s going to be available the week of the 10th September I believe.
I know it’s daft but with all these fitness classes I’m challenging myself with, ballet, tap, boxing , Hiit, Pilates, and weights, I will have to wash my hair more often! Crazy isn’t it but that is a negative for me! Ha, lazy girl. Although I don’t feel lazy with that plan of action! It’s going to be harder as the evenings get darker but… gotta keep on movin’.
Talking of darker evenings, there’s a definite chill in the air already… and it’s STILL August so a little extra layer could be a very sensible plan. Denim & Co., a super fashion collection that Glen Campbell has championed since the beginning has a lovely cardigan for a Today’s Special Value coming up in the middle of Septembe, which could be just the ticket to keep us enjoying the late summeryness, add to that a bit of Skechers Street Shiny Diamond Dancers… you just KNOW with a name like that they are gonna be good! And September will be embraced, fun, sparkly, busy and full of new starts and we can bounce around in these flatforms with ease and handle ANYTHING!
Well that is the plan….who’s in?!!
INCIDENTALLY and MOST importantly… not only is it my 20th Anniversary with QVC on October 1st, and Joe’s 16th birthday, it’s also QVC’s 25th birthday, so… and here’s the good bit, in case you have missed the explanations on air I shall tell you all here. Spend £100 and receive a voucher for £10 from QVC in September and to spend during September. Spend £150 and get £15 for your voucher. Spend £250 and, boom, the £25 voucher will be emailed to you… just a lovely little thank you (and by the way you get to the amount with multiple purchases not just one AND the P&P counts towards it too) so if you are doing some shopping it’s worth thinking /planning a little to get a little back. I thought I would just pop some of my most favourite of pictures from the wedding here, though they aren’t the professional ones I still think they are super. It was such a happy special day. I was lucky to be involved with a little preparation as Hayley, the bride’s sister, just happens to be totally amazing, organised and artistic, so the night before I was assisting her making the button holes and helping with the bridesmaids and bride’s bouquets.
Maddie absolutely LOVED being a bridesmaid and when she walked in ahead of Philly, I must say (biased I know) she looked absolutely gorgeous though was obviously containing a fit of the giggles as she and her partner in crime Cally had the hugest of smiles. It was without a doubt a day of joy and smiles all round but none as big and beautiful as the radiant bride and groom’s. Adam, you are a lucky young man and we are lucky to have you as part of our family.
So I hope you have enjoyed a little catch up from my happy times! And had plenty yourselves of course…
Last days of summer 2018, let’s make them count…
