Presenting at the QVC Fashion & Jewellery Show!

With temperatures dropping and days shortening it is clear that summer is gone and Autumn is here, with its best friend Winter following close behind.

I never enjoy the transition from summer to winter but one thing that can make it a little easier is shopping for those key pieces to see us through the season.

With this in mind it was my privilege to be asked to host the QVC A/W14 Fashion & Jewellery Show last week. The show was an opportunity to showcase our take on some of the trends that we will be seeing and how we can wear them.

With looks that incorporated leather, luxe layering, winter pastels and more, the show was a joy to watch. Our QVC stylist Anna Sammut co-ordinated the looks and styles, incorporating jewellery from Butler & Wilson, Lola Rose and Aurora, as well as shoes from Clarks and Peter Kaiser and bags from the likes of orYANY and Smith & Canova.

We had four catwalk shows across two days with about 200 QVC customers, chosen at random and invited to come, joined us for each show. I was asked to do the welcome and introductions at the start, and stylist, fashion writer and regular QVC guest Aisling McCloy joined me on stage. I used the opportunity to ask her about all the trends we saw the designers showing for the A/W season and how we were going to see those translated into the looks we had at QVC.

We also discussed some of those regular trends that some may consider difficult to incorporate into their wardrobe, like faux fur, animal print and one of this season’s big trends, luxurious leather.

All the models looked stunning and the whole show was co-ordinated by our regular model Goody. Unknown to me, though, she had incorporated me into the choreography for the end of the show! At first I was a little reticent and, if I am honest, nervous. Goody explained, however, that the idea was just to have fun and create a party atmosphere, so with that in mind I joined the models on stage for the last number on the catwalk. It was a lot of fun and I had a blast. It was also great to meet so many of you, our customers. I love meeting and chatting with all of you, so thank you to all of you who were so kind and said lovely things when we met – it made my day.

Since the catwalk shows I have literally been on the run catching some of the designer shows from London Fashion Week which finished yesterday. I’ve been asked if I have hit fashion overload yet, and honestly I don’t think I ever could. I love it and I know many of you do too. So stay tuned to QVC over the next few days as we reveal our Autumn Fashion Takeover!

Until next time,

Hi Miceal, It was lovely talking to you at the fashion show which was really enjoyable and the goody bag was great. I gave your regards to Mayo and Clare and had a rather swift but enjoyable few days in both Counties – even the weather was kind to us! Unfortunately on the return journey, I fell into a lift at Manchester Airport (wet floor and large luggage trolley) and broke my left arm!! I will be plastered for the next 4 to 5 weeks!!
    Regards Kay

Oh no Kay! What terrible luck! How is your poor arm? After the nice time you had in Ireland too. I hope the broken arm has marred your memories of a good time in my homeland?
It was great to meet you too at the fashion event. I love the opportunity to meet with our lovely customers and you were exactly that!
    Get well soon.

    Miceal. Xx
