Never let it be said that I don’t practice what I ‘preach’ – I simply had to share this photo of all the beauty products lined up on the shelf in my hotel while I’m on holiday. They probably weighed more than my clothes – if truth be told – and I have a feeling Ali Young would be very proud of me.
Of course, none of us presenters can use every single product we sell, but I do try to share the love between the brands and cherry-pick my favourite products – the ones that give me the best results. There will be lots of choice and opportunity over this coming Beauty Weekend on QVC, to stock up on your faves at great prices or use your 30 day money-back guarantee to try something new. Unfortunately I’m missing it, as I’ll still be away.
So, Chris and my 40th anniversary of living together started very early (4.30am to be precise) as our flight from New York to Antigua was at 7.45am. The flight was only about four hours, but the difference in temperature was marked. In all honesty, we haven’t had wall-to-wall sunshine, it’s been cloudy and we’ve even had a few rain showers at times, but it has been wonderful to just ‘put my feet up’ and relax.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner on our first evening, which was when we finally got around to opening our cards to one another. There was also one from my Mum, who always marks the occasion too. Chris had told the hotel staff it was our anniversary and they made it special by giving us a bottle of bubbly and decorating our dessert plate.
It took the first couple of days to get over the hectic New York sightseeing, but we did finally venture out to the nearby English Harbour and the restored Nelson’s dockyard. You could be forgiven for thinking this photo was taken in London, but I guess the guy wearing shorts in January is a bit of a giveaway.
There are two beaches in the resort we are staying in, one in a sheltered bay and the other protected by a reef – against which you can see and hear the Atlantic waves crash. The photo of me was taken overlooking the latter and was definitely my preference of the two. It’s also where the pelicans were fishing.
They were fascinating to watch, soaring high on the breeze whilst eyeing up their catch before diving with pinpoint accuracy, tucking their wings back at the last moment before entering the water. Watching them has been the icing on the cake for me on this lovely, relaxing holiday.
Sadly it is almost at an end, so I’d better go and make a start on the packing.
See you back on QVC on Monday.
