Planuary

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all well and enjoying 2019 so far. For me, it has been all about planning, mostly for the wedding of course. There’s been a lot on my checklist to get sorted. Last year I kept saying that I didn’t understand why wedding planning was stressful and that I found it quite easy but it turns out that booking the big stuff (church, venue etc.) was easy and it’s the smaller details that are stressing me out more. I’ve looked at more photos of bouquets than I thought possible, waded through thousands of invite designs and started to collect mountains of glass containers for flowers and candles. Its all good fun really though, and I just have to remind myself when it gets stressful the real reason behind it all.

We have also picked our first dance song at last. We don’t really have “a song” like some couples do, so it was a bit tricky to decide. I’m keeping it secret for now but let’s just say it’s a classic and, well, SHORT! We aren’t the most graceful dancers, so the bridesmaids will be instructed to drag everyone on the floor after a few moments! Speaking of bridesmaids, there’s been a lot of whispering about the Hen Do too –thankfully (I think) not something I am involved in planning at all! Between all of this, I’ve been trying to walk longer with the dog. Monty and I are walking about 4 miles a day together at the moment and I’m trying to keep up the good long walks and go further when I can. It’s funny how even when I really don’t feel like going out into the cold in the morning, I always feel better once I am out there with him –until he does something naughty, that is!

Another project I’ve started is stripping the woodchip from our hallway. We bought our house about a year and a half ago and it needs totally renovating –we’ve done some work, but there’s a lot still to be done. Obviously with the wedding coming up we aren’t spending on big projects, but I thought I could start on this job as we already have all the tools necessary. I’m planning to get all the woodchip off, sand and fill any cracks in the walls and just paint it white for now until we decide what colour and style we want it. I just got fed up of looking at it really! Anyone who has removed woodchip before will know it’s not a job for the faint-hearted –it takes three removals –top layer, wood bit, bottom layer and then any scraps left. I’m most of the way through the walls at the top of the stairs and giving my arms a rest! In truth, I hate it, but I keep my music or audiobook on and tell myself it’ll all be worth it in the end.

As for QVC, it’s been busy, busy, busy. We’ve had lots going on and there’s even more exciting stuff coming up. I’ve been joining you on QVC Live as well as Style, which I have been greatly enjoying. I’m really looking forward to this Friday when we will be having The Real Pie Company as our Today’s Special Value. Have a look at my last blog to find out more about their pies, as I was sent a box of them just before Christmas… yum!

Now, let’s talk Big Deals for this week. The one we have on QVC Style right now is fab. It’s from Emu Australia and is bang on the money for the hiker boot trend we’ve seen gracing lots of celebs recently. Aside from that, it is a really practical boot. If you’re like me and you love being outside lots but struggle to find practical boots that look good too, then BINGO, here they are!

I still can’t get over the fact that Emu do waterproof leather boots too and these come in three perfect colours. In my opinion, the Big Deal price for leather boots of this quality is fantastic and, to top it off, it’s on two easy-pays. If you get these, I think you will be wearing them for years to come. Make sure you’re quick though –we’d already sold 30% of the week’s stock when we aired them on Monday!

The beauty Big Deal is the Bareminerals 3 Piece Wake Up Radiant Skinlongevity Collection. Take a look at the video online to hear SJ and Claire tell you all about it and see the products in action. It’s a perfect collection for this time of year when your skin might be feeling a bit dull and tired –I know mine is! Lots of us only think of Make-Up when we think of Bareminerals but their skincare is wonderful too and what a great time to try it out when you get three products for a lower price.

Lastly, we have the Fitt Cube Compact Multi Gym. This is quite a clever little idea whereby the designers have put pretty much all of your most useful gym equipment into one compact cube. So instead of picking one piece of equipment to work one group of muscles, you can use this to work them all! Again, I’d really suggest watching to video online to get a good idea of just how much you can use this and how many exercises you can get out of it. As part of the Big Deal, it’s on 3 easy-pays too, so if you need a little help by spreading the cost you can do that interest free.

That’s it from me today, and sorry there weren’t many photos to show you –I was planning to do a little “day in the life at QVC” blog for you, but the past couple of days I’ve been in were too manic. Perhaps next time if you’d like to see that? In the meantime, I’ll be on for the rest of the week from tomorrow, so I hope you can join me for some fab shows and I’ll see you back here in a couple of weeks. If you’re on Instagram, give me a follow and I’ll pop some sneaky peeks on my stories the next few day – I’m @kathryn_goldsmith.

Enjoy the rest of your week,

Kathryn x

Have you thought about a steamer (not for clothes!) to help
with the woodchip? If you have a lot of the awful stuff to remove
they can save hours. I think the 1960’s wallpaper in our house was
superglued to the walls & the steamer really helped.
Don’t leave it on one place for too long or you may find the plaster
    comes away too!!!
Good luck with the wedding and the diy.

It will so be worth it. Our “do-er upper” had me in tears on many occasions but we now have a home we can be proud of rather than the hovel we bought! Well done you for the ultimate in recycling…upcycling a whole house!
