Plants, prints and New Year’s resolutions

Hello and a big happy New Year!

I hope you have been keeping well over the festive period and enjoyed some time with family and friends. Have you made any New Year’s resolutions? I’ll come back to that later in this blog.

I couldn’t get back home to the Highlands for Christmas or New Year, and New Year is big where I’m from, so we decided to bring some Scottishness to our time in London and went to a Ceilidh! It was so much fun! The band were brilliant and all dressed in tartan. It took us a moment or two to try and remember the steps to Strip the Willow and The Gay Gordon’s but once the caller was in place (that’s the guy who tells you what foot to put in front of the other and which direction to turn) we were spinning around the hall and having a ball. I love the music and it’s such a great way to meet people.

Now that the sparkle of Christmas and the excitement of the festive time starts to fade away, January can look pretty grey, so I felt inspired to fill the house with as many house plants as possible. I genuinely feel happier and more motivated when I have plants and flowers around. Now here’s the thing – I went to agricultural college so I ‘should’ have green fingers right? Unfortunately that is not always the case. I often find orchids don’t live longer than a week and my basic basil plants are dead within days! Richard Jackson – help! However I am determined to make new plants happy and healthy and help them live beyond Easter. Fingers crossed.

It’s not just plants that need TLC this time of year, I find my hair and skin do too. Being a busy lady, finding time to go to the hairdresser’s can be tricky. You may have seen Percy & Reed with Paul Percival – who co-owns the company – on our QVC Beauty shows recently with some wonderful and gorgeous-smelling haircare goodies. These guys also happen to do my hair too.

I can say hand on heart that everyone in the salon is so friendly and really good at what they do. I am a real fan of the brand and would say if you’re not happy with your haircare why not try this Get the Gloss collection. I use their shampoo for moisture at the moment and love it. Here’s a little pic of myself and Natalie who does my hair, last Saturday in the salon.

This leads me on the New Year’s resolutions! Do you make them or don’t you? I have a school of thought that says – your own personal New Year can start at any time of the year. You can make changes to yourself, your lifestyle and the things you do at any time. So I don’t make resolutions all at one time on January the 1st. But what I can share with you is that I would like to do more creative projects this year. So I’ve started the year off with doing some little things in the house and here they are.

I found these cover prints from Vogue, it’s a history of all the front covers made over the years with famous actresses and models. I love the designs so much that I framed some up. We also put up these stunning brass wings that Elliot had given me for Christmas. They are so beautiful and I just love the heart that’s formed when you put them together.

I am not the only one getting creative as QVC Style have been making a series of short interviews backstage with some of our stylists. These are great and put together in a fun way. It also gives you a chance to meet the people that create the range of fantastic looks and styles. Take a look here to see for yourself.

I mentioned skincare before. I’ve been making a real effort to try to take care of my skin especially after a few weeks of indulging over Christmas and just general winter weather can all add up. QVC Beauty has such a fantastic array of skin products that I know I can always find something that will work for my skin. It’s worth watching our shows that are live for one hour Monday to Friday at 6pm, as we have top skincare experts, international make up artists and not forgetting our own Ali Young on hand, to bring you tutorials and share what they know. It can be quite overwhelming if you don’t know how to look so why not join us and let us help you.

We will have this collection from The Hero Project coming up in our Big Deals this week. At the moment I use this gorgeous smelling cleansing milk from Evolve and SkinSense eye cream and day and night cream. I have seen such a difference to my lines on my face since using the eye cream.

If you have any question about our styles and beauty products please feel free to drop me a line. I am always happy to help where I can. I wish you all a great week and look forward to you joining us on the telly box.

Eilidh xx

P.S These are the other Big Deals this week. Enjoy!

Hi Eilidh on your 4 pm style show today (22/3) one of your models Sharon was wearing a nice lip shade. Can you possibly tell me what is was? Thanks ?
