What I’ve been up to
I got to let my hair down last weekend!!! I was OUT OUT! Fred and I went to a party fundraiser on Friday in aid of a friend of ours who needs treatment abroad for a brain tumour. Bitter sweet of course but a fun night for everyone. The theme was 90s versus 00s so you can imagine the room was filled with Britney Spears’, Reservoir Dogs, Wayne’s World, Ali G and lots of rave outfits too. I went as a nod to the 90s film Clueless and Fred went as Liam Gallagher from Oasis!!
Fred isn’t normally a fan of fancy dress but for this all he really had to do was wear his own clothes and add a pair of blue round John Lennon glasses, I think it was pretty effective!! It was so nice to get out together without the kids and have a bit of fun just as a couple rather than Mummy and Daddy for a moment.
On Sunday night we went into Bournemouth to see the Christmas Tree Wonderland which is all through the gardens in the centre of the town. They have added huge installations of millions of lights to make it feel extra magical in town. It was so nice to see Bournemouth so busy and people everywhere enjoying themselves. We got mulled wine at the Alpine Bar, which I mentioned last week, and then walked through the lights once it got nice and dark. What a lovely way to get all Christmassy.
So Christmassy in fact that we put our Santa’s Best Christmas tree up the next evening! I went for one of the smaller ones because we don’t have the space for a big one anymore. We will also be having Christmas at my parents’ house so I shall leave them to have the big tree. It’s so pretty with all the changing multi-coloured lights which go with our rainbow theme this year. I know it’s early to get the tree up but I don’t care, I love it!
What I’ve been buying – Fitbit Versa
The rest of the weekend was of course all about the kids, as well as a day of work for me at QVC. On the Sunday I was at home though so we got a lovely day out on the beach in the winter sunshine. We went for a walk and the kids whizzed along on their scooters and practiced their handstands! I got to try out my brand new Fitbit Versa, which I bought in the Black Friday offers. Check it out online because it might still be on Feature price! I am loving it so far, it’s really making me think about how much I move, or don’t move more to the point. On the day that I was working I only made it to 7000 steps as I spent a lot of the day driving to work. On the Sunday however I made it to 14K!!! Whoop whoop!
I’ve been keeping track on what my sleep patterns are which varies so much depending on if Ivy wakes up during the night. It really is a great way to help keep track of my health and what I’m doing to try and stay active. I have added the girls as a screen saver and I am really looking forward to trying out some of the exercise videos that are on it when I go to the gym. In the past I would have waited ’til January for something like this but I wanted to get on the case right away as this is the time of year when we can become hibernators and I want to avoid just sitting on my bottom eating Christmas party food! I teamed my Fitbit with my Centigrade Coat and my Vionic Slip on Trainers.
What’s on offer
At this time of year our Today’s Special Value offers are all important to everyone who wants to get something great for an extra special price! So I want to give you a heads up for two really great ones coming your way this week. First up tomorrow (Friday 30th November) is your chance to get a gorgeous Orla Kiely handbag. Orla’s prints are iconic and the quality is excellent. There are four fabulous prints to choose from, that will be the hardest part. How do you choose?!!
Next up, it’s one if the biggest TSVs of the year. So many people want to get Molton Brown for their friends and family at Christmas. Perhaps you want it for yourself! Either way we will have an incredible price for you this Sunday. The choice will be Fresh or Floral Sweet and will include two Body Washes, a Hand Wash and a Hand cream. I have been trying out the Fresh which includes Bracing Silverbirch Body Wash, Serene Coco and Sandalwood Body Wash, Refined White Mulberry Hand Wash and Coco and Sandalwood Hand Cream. My favourite at the moment is the Silverbirch, I also love the hand wash and hand cream as the Molton Brown sensory experience carries on throughout the day. If you love your Molton Brown then you will love this collection.
I also wanted to share something for the kids too, because I have got so into having an activity tracker I thought I should let you know that we have a brilliant offer for the Garmin VivoFit Jr 2. I am considering one for Tilda. This encourages kids to keep active and tracks steps and also sleep. It also brilliantly reminds kids about any chores they have to do. Most importantly you can manage their profiles via the Smartphone app. It means you will be able to see how much of the day they are active at school for example. If they’ve not done much then you can make sure to get out and about with them after they get home. This will be the Big Deal next week here at QVC (item number will be 518248) so keep an eye out for it, it comes in Disney Princess and Spiderman.
The last thing I want to shout about is something I spotted back stage and just loved. It’s a pair of Amanda Wakeley earrings. I didn’t even know we did her jewellery!!! I think I squealed a little when I saw them. I know they are a higher price point than some fashion earrings but then they are designer. These are the Chain Drop Earrings and I think they are gorgeous. Definitely worthy of a Christmas present wish list. What do you think of them? I love their drama!!
That’s it from me this week, I am going to leave you with some good news for fans of The Weekend Kitchen, the show will be returning in March 2019 so keep your eyes peeled for updates early next year. To celebrate here is a recipe I tried out from our friend Dean Edwards who presented the show with me earlier this year, it’s called Shakshouka and it’s the most amazing breakfast from the Middle East. You’ll see it popping up on menus all over the place and I order it whenever I see it, so I thought it was time to try it myself. Let me know if you give it a try too.
Lots of Love
