Winter beauty tips: it’s all about make-up

Over the last few weeks I've been filming a series of winter skincare tips for QVC Beauty. So far I've covered winter hair as well as looking at caring for your nails through the colder months.

The latest instalment is all about caring for the face, not just with your skincare but make-up too.

    Hi Alison,
I am in my early early 40s, and wondering if you could recommend a good liquid foundation that is lightweight and will not clog up my pores and create breakouts. I have used Bare minerals mineral foundation, but I am noticing that the powder is starting to accentuate the wrinkles around my eyes more than before.
    Thank you

    Hi Alison.
Please can you help—-I’m in DESPERATE need of a cleanser. I’ve gone from normal/dry skin to sensative/dry and have now been diagnosed with hormonal eczema. I’ve tried countless cleansers and all have left the tops of my cheeks and chin dry,red and sore.

    Hi Alison,
I do like the feel of a primer, really makes using make up easier on my dry mature skin. But what about the likes of Perricone No Foudation Foundation which is also treatment, or a BB, should a primer be used first with these?
I can’t get eye make to stay put, I can’t use eyeshadow anymore, I have a hooded eye, but even my eyeliner, including Bobbi Brown, Mally, and LG, spread and look dirty. I use LG eye spackle.
    Please help

I love Judith Williams and Liz Earle moisturisers, but they don’t have any sun protection. Can you recommend anything I can use with them that doesn’t compromise the ingredients in the moisturisers? I have Ultrasun face SPF 30 but am unsure if this is suitable or exactly how I should use it with a moisturiser.
Many thanks for your help and advice.

    Hi Alison
I always had dry skin but over the last 1/2 years it has become oily with open pores. I require an entire new skin regime and make up and have no idea where to start! Can you please help??
I am 35 and have been given a glycolic acid face cleanser and moisturiser for oily skin by a UK wide skin clinic chain. Although my skin is now over-producing oil and the pores are open, I don’t feel the moisturiser is nourishing enough.
I am looking for a basic skin routine, and would like a good eye cream, as I feel my eyes are very wrinkly for my age. Any advice would be very welcome!
    Thank you!! Caroline

    Hi Alison
I wonder if you can help me. I am 52 years old and have a very dry sensitive skin. I have a very good skin routine and use premium brand products. I also exfoliate twice a week with a gental exfoliator such as Liz Earl or Elemis. My problem is my foundation. I have used many liquids but would really like to get into Bare Minerals. I have tried previously but had to give up as the brushes irritated my skin and I thought you could only use BM with real hair brushes. To my surprise with the latest TSV it came with synthetic brushes as requested by other customers so to my delight I ordered this on multi drop.
I always use a primer and I am at present using BM one. In the morning it looks lovely but by the I come home from work my skin looks very dry which in turn accentuates my lines around my eyes and forehead. There isn’t any flaking just a very dry and powdery look.
I know you suffer from very dry skin and I know you often wear BM and therefore hoped you would be able to tell me what you do I really would like to continue with BM as I really like like the concept of their products and the goodness to your skin.
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Many Thanks

    Hi Alison,
I am 42 years old and my biggest concern are lines on my décolletage area from sunbathing. What is the best cream you can recommend I try? Your colleague mentioned this problem on the show tonight but didn’t say what she used to help.
    many thanks
