Whether you’re looking for a stylish outfit that won’t upstage anyone, that perfect contouring palette for wedding-day glam, or a sparkling piece of ‘something new’, we’ve got some incredible finds you’re bound to fall in love with.
Today we’ve enlisted the help of our Beauty copywriter, Jessica, who’s getting married next year to her fiance, Avi (pictured left). Read on as she navigates the tricky task of choosing make-up that will give her a gorgeous bridal glow. We hope her tips and tricks help you to create a beautifully effortless look, whichever part you’re playing on the big day!
I love matte eyes, and want my make-up to be quite soft and feminine on my wedding day, so this Tarte palette has all the shades I need (and more) for a really pretty look. With a matte palette it’s always easier to add shimmer if you need it, than go all-in with shimmer and have to reign it back!
Bobbi Brown is synonymous with natural, enhancing beauty, and her Shimmer Bricks are great for applying shimmery (but not at all sparkly) colour to cheekbones and eyes. You can also use the darker shades to enhance a faux or natural tan, and because they’re so easy to use, I’ll be able to top it up throughout the day.
Laura Geller’s mineral formulas are really kind to my sensitive skin, and this lovely trio would be perfect for when I’m getting ready for the ceremony. It features my favourite Spackle primer in the Supercharged formula (to help make-up adhere to skin throughout the day and keep it hydrated), classic Balance N Brighten in your choice of shade, and a lovely lipstick in a rosy colour I could imagine suiting anyone.
If I want full coverage (and on my wedding day, I’m sure I definitely will), I’ll apply a liquid foundation over the Spackle primer, and then use Balance N Brighten to reduce unwanted shine and keep my skin looking smooth and healthy.
Benefit have recently launched these Double the Lip products, which feature a clever nib with a gradient effect to create the precision of a liner with the pigment and rich colour of a lipstick. They have some gorgeous neutral colours, but if I’m feeling brave on the day I might opt for the fiery red or deep raspberry – I love the idea of a pop of colour, and because they’re so slim, you can pop it in your clutch and reapply after a glass of champagne (or four).
Feeling inspired? Don’t forget you can find more fab wedding day beauty picks at amazing prices along with stylish fashion and jewellery pieces over on our Wedding Shop.
