Our trip to Croatia and skincare chat

6

I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine at the moment, rather than suffering in the heat. I’ve come back home from a lovely holiday to weather far better than we had while we were away, as Southern Europe has been pretty unsettled during June. But I’m not complaining – it’s always good to be away and exploring new places, whatever the weather. Olley and I have been touring Croatia in our motor home and we stayed in Pula in Istria and also Sibernik and Omis, both near Split on the Dalmatian coast.

We enjoyed visiting beautiful old towns, some with amazing Roman ruins, and some places of natural beauty such as the Krka waterfalls and the Cetina river, where I had a lovely swim. We also took a ferry out to Vis island, which was my favourite of all the places we went to, and by then the weather had settled and we enjoyed some beautiful sunshine. The sea is so clear and inviting, and the two main villages on the island, Vis and Komiza, are full of friendly bars and restaurants, just calling out for you to sit and relax over a drink or a meal and watch the world go slowly by. While we were there we discovered that the island was used as the location for the new Mamma Mia 2 film which is coming out soon. I can’t wait to see whether I recognise any of the places they filmed in, I’m sure it will all look stunning – because it is!

I’ve selected photos from the days when the sun did shine for us, and, of course, I was well protected with high factor Ultrasun. But however much sunscreen you use, many of us have noticed signs of ageing in our skin. It’s inevitable, I suppose, as we get older, even when using high quality skin care. But there are other, cutting edge technology options to help reduce and even reverse the appearance of slackening and wrinkles, and one of them is our Today’s Special Value on Wednesday 11th July.

Sensica device

The device, from Sensica, is non-invasive and uses dynamic radio frequency waves to combine an active facial massage with treatment that will produce a temporary tightening to the skin, give it radiance and will work to firm the appearance of your face, neckline and/or hands and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There’s a 60 day money back guarantee to give you plenty of time to assess the results for yourself, but in a study of users, 83% reported visible results after just one treatment! It’s recommended to use it just once a week on each area you’d like to treat for the first eight weeks for long lasting skin tightening results, and then even less often, so it’s not a big time commitment.

The lovely Ruth Frances will be our guest to explain just how easy it is to use, and I’ll be chatting with her in the Morning Show and having a go with the Sensica device myself. If you’re interested, do try to join us around 9.40am on Wednesday.

I’ve just realised, I’ve been talking about Croatia and also our TSV on Wednesday. The two subjects will be combined at 7pm when England face Croatia in the semi finals of the football World Cup. Most of the nation will be willing our team to victory and I’m no different – Come On England, bring football home to us!

Have a good week,
Kathy x

Thanks for that Cathy. My sister went to split but that was when it was the old country.
I’m glad you had such a lovely time!
Can most people speak English there?
    Love Hayley

Hi Kathy. Thank you so much for sharing your photos of stunning Croatia. It’s so beautiful and the people are too. It brought special memories of our visit there a few years ago. We took an amazing sunset photo which we had enlarged and it hangs on the wall so we are transported back there every day!!! I didn’t swim in the w waterfalls though!!! That’s special..

I agree with you about ultrasun, it’s just incredible. I’m a n auburn girl with freckly skin that burns but not with USun!!! Gorgeous, except it’s cost me a small fortune to buy and stock up for my children and grandchildren but worth every penny and you can’t put a price on protected skin. I’m sure you agree!!!

Well Kathy, being a grandma suits you, you ‘re glowing.! Isn’t it just the most blessed feeling ever? Enjoy every moment with her, there’s something new every day to cherish..

Love and hugs to you all … Lots of blessings
    Christine xxx

You certainly look well rested after your lovely holiday. I hope I’m allowed to ask which brand of cropped trousers were you wearing on this morning’s Garden Makeover please x

Hi Kathy, another warming blog from you. We have also taken a couple of identical pictures from our visits to Split, Trogir and Vis when we were there in a sunny week in June. Hope that Vis doesn’t get inundated with visitors in the same way that Skopelos did after the first Mama Mia film was released ! Having spent many years exploring various Greek islands we decided on a change and have to say we were very impressed with the people and places in Croatia and plan to return sometime to further explore. All good wishes to you and your family.
