Our Annual Visit to the Isle of Wight

What an absolutely fabulous summer we have had! I can’t remember the last time that we had so much sun like this, it’s been a real joy with the children off school as we have been able to do loads!

The highlight for us has been our annual trip to the Isle of Wight, usually we do five days and it always pours with rain and blows us off our feet for the majority of the time. The last two years we nearly lost our tent whilst sleeping in it so this year, I opted for taking a caravan and we went for 11 days hoping that we would at least get some dry days… this of course was booking back in the new year so we had no idea what was ahead when it came to this glorious weather.

One of the things we so love about the Isle of Wight is that the act of leaving mainland Britain and getting on a ferry and then stepping off the other side just seems to have the ability to leave everything behind and slow the world down, it’s wonderful. We have always done no-screen holidays but as they are teenagers now, I gave them both the choice and they opted once again for not bringing their phones which I was delighted about, it really gave us the chance to connect, have fun, play board games and do the things we don’t always tend to do in our busy lives these days.

We did have a couple of rainy days, in fact we had a weekend of storms with very strong winds which was quite fun and dare I say, a welcome rest from all the sunshine. It’s funny, when the weather is hot, you totally forget how it feels to be cold, but then when the weather changes, you totally forget how it feels to be hot… or is that just me?

One of the things we did was to go kayaking in the rain which was brilliant as the waves, although they don’t look it here, were quite choppy which was huge fun as we raced each other back and forth. Myles didn’t want to come out of the water, he’s quite the beach boy!!

I say we don’t take screens when we camp but there is one caveat and that is if it rains, we can go to the cinema and I can’t remember a year when we haven’t!! So duly dripping, we went to watch Hotel Transylvania 3 which was a hoot.

There was of course however, loads of sunshine so we did the obligatory sand castle competition and mammoth hole dig …some things they never grow out of …

…that and playing chicken with the waves on a stormy day which I think is possibly our most favourite thing to do… no money fun as they say, always a winner!

On to QVC things, one of the last shows I did before I went off with the children was with Sarah Chapman and she had kindly given me the Radiance Recharge System which I thought would be perfect as it is a 10 day regime that I knew I would forget to do every night if I was at home, but being on holiday, I’m a bit better with the odd skin treat here and there. Keely from Elemis always berates me as I’m not great at the extras. I’m excellent at cleanse tone moisturise twice a day, that’s never an issue, but it’s the other bits like exfoliating and masks that I just tend to forget to do so this was a great little treat to boost my holiday recharge and I could really feel the tightening effect …always good!

And whilst I’m here, don’t forget the amazing voucher offer we have on at the moment, it’s only until 16th September so don’t miss out and it will be based on EVERYTHING you spend during that time, INCLUDING p&p, it’s not just per purchase so you could buy the New Cleanse and Polish totalling £32.45, the Elemis Top-to-Toe Sea Lavender & Samphire Collection totalling £54.93 and treat yourself to a gorgeous Price’s Candle Set for the bathroom totalling £19.96 and you’re already qualified for a £10 voucher… add more to that and you’ll get a voucher worth even more – up to £25 ….brilliant!

I’ve not been brilliant on social media over the holidays to be honest as we’ve been spending some good family time together however, once we are back to school I will be more active again. I know I’ve promised to do a couple of tutorial things which I will do, and also more outfits of the day #ootd so make sure you’re following me on Instagram @PipaGordon

Loads of love as always

Hi Pipa, I was just reading your blog and recognised Steephill Cove amongst your photos, we live in Portsmouth and always go over to the Island once a year, usually at the end of June. If you didn’t have one this time I would highly recommend the crab pasties.
