Oh I do like to be beside the seaside – but where was I?

JuliaWell we are often to be heard complaining about the Great British Summer, or more precisely the lack of it, but we really can't complain about the last fortnight, unless, of course, you are finding it too hot!

How lovely to be able to sit outside late into the evening sipping your favourite tipple or, in my case, enjoying a bowl of tasty, succulent English strawberries with cream.

I have been fortunate to be off work for the last five days so have made full use of my time to relax, after the stresses and exertion of the gala, and soak up the sunshine whilst enjoying a good book or two. I finished reading my friend Debbie Flint's book…a little steamy in places but a good storyline well executed, and I also read a novel that my sister bought me for my birthday called 'Perfect Strangers' by Tasmina Perry.

I hadn't read anything by this author before but I really enjoyed her writing style so I think I will be making use of my Kindle to download some more of her titles. My only regret is that I didn't have the 'reading' sunglasses (pictured above) to assist reading in the bright sunlight. They are part of a TSV set launching in this year's Christmas in July at midnight Tuesday into Wednesday…I will definitely be ordering!

Where am I pic 2. Where am I pic 1.After four days of enjoying sitting in the garden, with the occasional trip out to view houses (yes, we are still looking), I suddenly said to Chris on Wednesday morning as I was hanging out the washing, "Let's go to the seaside"…so we did. The question is which resort on the south coast did we visit? I wonder if any of you can identify it from the pictures above and below?

Where am I pic 3Too difficult? Okay here's a clue: it took us an hour and a half to get there from Epsom. Even the drive was pleasant with the roof off my little old Audi – no I haven't replaced her yet, which will make sense to you if you have read my book (Chapter 16) - but I was very pleased that Chris and I had made full use of the Ultrasun 50 spray before we left home.

I have some lovely shows over the next few days including the Liz Earle TSV tomorrow which, as well as some favourites like Orange Flower body wash and Cleanse & Polish, includes the fabulous hair oil. My hair loves it, so if you haven't tried it yet the TSV would be the perfect opportunity. I am also doing the Liz Earle make-up show on Tuesday at 6pm.

Off to work now for Fashion on Friday and the final OPI 17th Anniversary show at 7pm.

See you later.

Love, Julia xx

OMG Julia ….. Jackie O, eat your heart out!! You look amazing in that picture. I thought the same when I caught you on air this week, you’re really looking back to your old self and long may it continue.
We had a little rain here last night so looks like my rain dance might have worked .. here at least …. how about where you are? In answer to your last question, I am an ‘Ali Young’ these days and laying in the sun is a huge no no for me. I’ve been wearing factor 50 all week just for popping in and out gardening, shopping, etc, and wear Ultrasun Face 30 every day of the year (or 50 depending on how hot it is). I used to be what I now regard as totally stupid in my late teens right through to mid 30’s laying in the sun at every possible opportunity with very little on in the way of sun protection (and very skimpy bikini’s to boot!) I consider myself incredibly lucky to have skin like this now considering my aforementioned stupidity ….. oh, and I used to have a sun bed! Of course, I put most of my lovely skin condition down to Elemis.
Sorry but I haven’t a clue which seaside resort you visited …. geography was never my strong point!

    Hi Julia,
Glad you enjoyed your time off and the weather was lovely wasn’t it, a bit too hot for me.
The seaside looks inviting but I cannot guess where it is.
Sorry to hear that Poppy was not well, do hope that she is okay now. You worry about them like Children dont you.
Love the Sunglasses, I have the Lola Rose ones, they are lovely, do not rub like some glasses.
I think the weather is on the change now isnt it, too good to be true. Looks like Thunderstorms and heavy rain on the way, mostly over your way I do believe.(What did you say thank you for that).
Hope you are feeling okay now.
    Love Jean XX

    Hi Julia
Good to hear that you had a lovely restful week. I have read most of Tasmina Perry’s books and would recommend her first one “Daddy’s Girls”. It is really good. I am just about to buy her latest book in Kindle form “Deep Blue Sea”. I am currently reading Debbie Flint’s book and am really enjoying that. I find that I read a book much quicker using my Kindle than actually reading a “proper” book, which is very strange.
Anyway, keep well and take care.

    Hi Steven
The weather has been fab hasn’t it – although a little warm for sleeping at night! I’ve been feeling pretty good lately – a bit under the weather last Sunday but ok again now.
When does your footie season start?

    Hi Marion
I think it’s just a good photo of me ….. unlike the one in The Sun newspaper last week!! (No not page three!)
I seem to suit big sunglasses – must be the shape of my face, and they are great for hiding behind. I still love the sunshine but always with the high SPF’s now.
We had a little bit of rain the night before last but not the torrential downpours and thunder and lightening that some places experienced. The garden could really do with a drenching so keep dancing.
Missed Keeley on Monday so looking forward to seeing her next month

    Hi Jean
Poppy is much better now thanks. It was very worrying last Friday when she had to stay at the vet’s overnight on a drip. She didn’t eat at all on Saturday but we managed to coax her to have some small amounts on Sunday … poor old girl.
I think some parts of London have had heavy downpours but we haven’t had much here at all – more’s the pity!
Still watering my lilies and it looks like they are about to flower.

    Hi Steve
Your ‘wild guess’ is spot on, we were in Littlehampton.
I had to read your comment about pegging out twice before I realised you meant the washing ….. I thought you meant me!
Thought you might be interested that the virgingiving page has raised nearly £4500 ….. hoping we can make it to £5000 before I take the page down.
    Hope you are all well

    Hi Fiona
Thanks for your recommendation re Tasmina Perry’s other books …. I will definitely read more when I have time. More importantly it has given me the push I needed to start writing my novel properly ….. it’s all planned out but I hadn’t written a Chapter 1 that I was happy with, them inspiration struck and I’m now halfway through Chapter 7 and it’s flowing beautifully.
Maybe see you for one of my Pilates shows on Sunday?

    Hi Julia
I was in Sheffield last night for the Sheff Wed v Rangers friendly. We got beat 1-0 but the atmosphere was amazing and great banter between the fans. Our season starts on Sunday although the actual league campaign starts on the 10th Aug.
Hows Palace preparations going? I think we should get Palace to play Rangers next pre season. I could meet you before the game….. 😀
    Hows the Pilates doing?
Hope you are all well and still enjoying the weather. It was lovely in Sheffield yesterday xxx

    Hi Julia
Excuse writing, first time from phone! Thank you for thinking of me in this heat. Op went well, but they gave me the wrong time in my letter, so arrived @ 7.30am & told it wasn’t being done until the afternoon! Chris wasn’t best pleased, but at least it wasn’t cancelled!
I’m weight bearing with crutches & had to keep it raised for first few days. I knew it would be painful, because the bone has to infill the holes left by the screws etc…its worse, ouch, ouch!
Anyway, I enjoyed your Christmas light slot, funny how Chrissy decs bring out the little girl in us all…loved the big baubles too!

    Hello Mary
The top I was wearing is a Butler and Wilson but it’s a very old one …. I must have had it ten years or more! I sometimes get it out for Christmas in July because the ‘jewels’ remind me of baubles. Glad you liked it and sorry it is no longer available

    Hi Steve
I did recognise the Nottingham phrase but only on second reading …. I’ve obviously been away too long!
What next year??? To double the amount raised would I have to double the length of the swim ? … then I really would be ‘pegging out’. Geoff Thomas wants to get me riding a bike too but I’m really not too sure about that!
Lucky guess with the seaside location but I did write about it in my book …. did you read the book?
Maybe I’ll offer a prize next time I do a little ‘question’ on here.

    Hi Steven
That would be a good idea for a pre-season friendly ….. I have a feeling we played Celtic one year? We have a PSF against Lazio on 10th August at Selhurst Park so will probably go to that …. I have my season ticket and really looking forward to watching a different kind of football.
My son Dan has just come back from his UEFA A licence course (part 1) so he will be putting what he has learnt into practise with the young talent coming through the Palace Academy.
We have signed a youngster from Seville, Jose Campana, and apparently he as looked good in the friendlies we have played so far.
Pilates is back with a TSV on Sunday and I’m doing the afternoon shows

    Hi Annette
Glad you got the op done ….. bones have an amazing way of regenerating. I remember how sore I felt after both of the bone marrow biopsies and that was only a hole left by an aspirating needle not a great big screw …. makes me go funny to think of it. Please take it easy as the whole ankle will be pretty fragile to start with I should imagine, and don’t be afraid to take your painkillers.
I usually try and avoid Christmas in July …. I just don’t like the thought that it is now less than 5 months away and I never plan in advance despite encouraging others to! I did like the giant baubles though and the spindly outdoor lighted tree.
    Take care

    Hi Julia
I think you were much braver than me, at least I was put out!
Chris ordered the shopping this week and the lady who brought it had metalwork taken out of her clavicle and told Chris the pain was far worse than when she did it…thank goodness for that, I was beginning to think there was something wrong!
I see Miss Kurta on Tues, so hopefully the cotton wool padding will be removed, it’s very warm.
Looking forward to seeing you and Marjolein…still no sign of the pull up bar yet tho’…I’ll need all the help I can get after all this lounging around lol!

I spotted both Decleor and L’Occitanne in Tenerife this week and Decleor in Flrida last summer. Love them both and am using them both to get my skin hydrated after the summer hols where I used the Ultrasun factor 50 and didn’t burn at all despite the intense sun.
