Hello to you all, I hope you have been keeping well and cool. It seems only months ago I was saying “I hope you’re all keeping well and warm”!
In the last two week I have been quite a busy bee! I visited Scotland, and have been busy at QVC. Let’s start in order of this time.
The reason for the trip was to celebrate a dear family friend’s, Ingrid, 50th birthday, and to squeeze in some time with my oldest brother Brodie. The plan was to meet in Edinburgh and stay in a hotel for the weekend and have a proper little get away.
So I set off very early on the train on Saturday morning to arrive by lunchtime. Brodie was driving down from the Highlands. I love the train journey up to Scotland. I am quite a day dreamer by nature so getting the chance to gaze out the window and look at the beautiful countryside pass by is a perfect way for me to spend a few hours. When I arrived Edinburgh was in full action and busy! The weather was glorious and within minutes I found both a female and male piper within short distance of each other. I love the sound of the pipes and I always feel proud to be Scottish.
Brodie arrived shortly after and we went out to have a scamper about the city before putting on our going out clothes (I wore a black jumpsuit with a low laced back and black stiletto heeled boots in case you were wondering) and heading of to the party girl’s house. It was such a fantastic evening. Our friend had a chef in to make the food and her twins made the most moving speech to their mum. After the meal we cleared back the tables and danced away till the wee hours. Here’s a pic of me and my big bro Brodie.
Edinburgh is so full of beautiful parks and of course the castle! I don’t know it very well so it was great to explore and visit the old town. Such lovely bars and cafes and old cobbled streets with incredible majestic old buildings. I can’t wait to return- I think I’ll try and get up to see some of the fringe when it’s on.
Have you had a chance to check out our Style Look? This time our stylists have put together a super slick almost “Sex and the City” look. Take a look and then I’ll break it down, but also check out my Instagram for more looks and fashion tips.
The trousers: Susan Graver
These are really smart trousers that will make your outfit look well put together and considered. I love that they are ankle grazing so they show of the smaller part of your leg. The side pockets have a slimming look on the hips as they lay smoothly and don’t stick out which would add extra bulk. Plus they also pull on so nice and smooth across the tum. The viscose and elastane mix makes them a perfect alternative to a heavier denim. They come in a few colours but you may need to be quick as they are disappearing! I’d wear these to business appointments with a smart heel and short blazer or out for dinner with a vintage silk blouse or indeed the shirt we have suggested.
The shirt: Charles Tyrwhitt
It’s always advisable to have a smart white shirt in your wardrobe. I don’t mean one that looks like a school shirt – one that looks sleek. Cue Charles Tyrwhitt’s white shirt! The placket down the front gives this shirt a high-end look and the extra darts add to overall smooth fitting. No need to iron this one either. You can literally wear this with most trousers and jeans and I’d even wear it tucked into a pencil skirt for a sexy but smart look.
The Big Deal this week from QVC Style is by Antthony Designs. It’s a pack of two tops. You know it’s going to feel and look great from him. He is such a fab designer and lovely man to work with.
The shoes: Marc Fisher
These summer strappy high heeled sandals are a great way of adding a summer heel with a twist. Don’t be put off by the straps, they don’t dig in at all and in fact are very soft. When I wore them I found them so comfortable and the wider heel gave me the right amount of balance. I think these would work really well with the above trousers but also jeans rolled up or with palazzo pants (check Coco Bianco or Nina Leonard) They are not designed to go off for long walks around the city but the will look darn good of an evening or a day event. They come in Black, Bright Blue and Pink Pop and in half sizes. Yay!
Bag by Amanda Wakeley
I have no doubt we agree that a smart bag can really pull together an outfit. I’m also pretty sure we have all grabbed our well-loved, slightly shabby, scuffed handbags and thought “oh dear well it’ll have to do”! This very luxurious yet understated leather bag from one of Britain’s biggest designers will solve that issue in an instant. I had the pleasure of working with Amanda recently and what a wonderful, inspiring and funny woman she is. I can’t wait for our next show together – I’m a huge fan of her bags.
Necklace by Lola Rose
Lola Rose will always add a touch of independent style to your outfit. I feel like it’s for the woman who has her own take on style and is not led by the rest of the world. This necklace has a soft romantic look with its heart shape and the arrangement of soft-toned semi-precious stones culminating in the heart at the bottom. It’s totally ageless and has a boutique feel.
I hope you are enjoying the new looks. Please keep your questions and thoughts coming in to me on Twitter, Insta and Facebook. I must apologise to the lovely ladies who contacted me after my last blog. I had some issues in the reply function on my tablet so there was a delay. I hope it’s all okay now. I love hearing from you so please keep in touch.
If you happen to be lucky enough to be going on your hols you may like to pop in this week’s Beauty Big Deal, from Perricone.
Until next time. Take care of yourselves.
