Before you get the idea I am packing to go off on holiday again, I’ll point out straight away that this photo was taken back in June when I went over to Spain for my sixtieth birthday celebrations. Funnily enough, I was reminded about that big birthday by a visit to the theatre on Wednesday night with my friend Debs Flint, but more of that later.
Several presenters were given sets of this coming Monday’s Heys luggage Today’s Special Value to road test on our various trips. Unlike some of my colleagues (Miceal and Jackie to name but two) I’ve only been away once since May, but I have to agree with everything they have said on their blogs about this superb set of luggage.
I think the spotty design of my cases was particularly distinctive, something that two of my fellow travellers on the airport bus definitely agreed with as I eavesdropped their conversation! Let’s face it, there is no way you could get your cases confused with anyone else’s on the luggage carousel. There are three colour options,
They are nice and lightweight but sturdy to protect from some of the rough handling they may be subject to; my favourite thing was having the quad-wheel system. It’s the first time I have experienced this, apart from trying it out on live TV, and I must say it is so much easier to manoeuvre your cases around, rather than tilting and dragging, especially if they are quite heavy… no comment!
Everything about this luggage is luxurious and, if you are off on holiday soon and need new cases, I would definitely recommend.
I’ve made good use of my five-day break to get a lot done. On Saturday I started writing a short story, a first for me, and managed to get 2,000 words down. Sunday was a family day with my ‘extra’ daughter, Natalie, visiting for lunch and staying for dinner too! Nat has left QVC after fifteen years with the company and I will miss her terribly, but she is off to pastures new and I wish her all the best with her new venture. I should also mention at this point that my roomie, Marv, has left QVC this week too so my dressing room is a bit lonely at the moment. Good luck Marv and keep in touch.
Monday was a bit of a chill-out day before more writing on Tuesday and Wednesday (I’m up to 5,000 words on my short story now), which leads me onto my theatre trip.
Thousands of people watched the YouTube clip of Debs wheeling my ‘BIG 60’ birthday cake on set on QVC. During the clip, Deb said she would take me to see Beautiful (the Carole King musical) as a birthday treat and true to her word she did.
We had a light bite, al fresco, prior to the show which gave us the chance to have a proper catch-up as so often we are just ships that pass in the night, and then on to the Aldwych Theatre.
Carole King was part of my growing up, and I loved James Taylor and Carly Simon too. In fact, I think I owned her album Tapestry, but I had absolutely no idea that, prior to her solo career, she wrote songs with her husband for some of the top music acts of the early 1960s. The story was enlightening, the performances without exception were excellent and the music… well, I was humming all the way home, much to the annoyance of my fellow train travellers. As Deb says on her blog this week, it is definitely a show I would go and see again. It’s given me the musical bug, so next stop will be Motown, I think – anyone seen it?
So back to work yesterday with the stylish and lovely Alison Cork and my friend Jaynie Renner from Slim ‘n’ Lift. I genuinely love the jeans look leggings and have at least six pairs, but I hadn’t seen the embellished ones I was wearing yesterday before. They were at a clearance price of under £13, so if you missed the show you may want to check them out here. They are sooooo comfy!
That show leads me in to Focus on Fashion for this week…
Tonight’s Fashion on Friday is Susan Graver, lots of you loved the yellow two-piece I was wearing a couple of weekends ago on Richard Jackson’s Gardening show, and we also have Michele Hope fashion this weekend and Mr Max on Sunday (my show is at 1pm).
But I really wanted to draw your attention to two things this week:
1) The Fashion Catwalk show on Thursday 11th at 5pm with Catherine Huntley – this is previewing our two day fashion event on the 12th and 13th. The show will feature Yong Kim, H by Halston, Join Clothes, Clarks, Tignanello, Chelsea Muse by Christopher Fink… to name but a few of our brands, and everything will be available in three Easy Payments, just like the two day event itself.
2) The MarlaWynne Today’s Special Value which kicks off the event – I have a sleeveless balloon-style dress by designer Marla which is incredibly flattering. This Today’s Special Value has 3/4 length sleeves, is in a matte crepe jersey, and comes in six colour options; Spice, Dark Plum, Midnight Teal, Olive Grey, and Black. There is no imagery on our website yet, but here are some sketches – I should also mention, it is under £60 – I feel a purchase coming on!
Tonight’s Spotlight on Jewellery at 6pm is a fab line-up of brands. I am a big fan of Anne Klein Watches (that is what I wear on air most of the time) and one of my favourite styles is launching in Nude as a new colour. We have some new Clogau earrings to match a very popular pendant that some of you may already own. Dominic is in from Aurora and we have the fabulous Maids in Waiting earrings which have some great reviews on our website and, last but not least, we have Bibi Bijoux. We’ll be featuring the only friendship-style bracelet from the brand, but it is a bit different from most as it is stretch. It comes in five colours and is available in Easy Payments for the first time – if you want to check it out.
I have a busy weekend and week ahead:
