Nice To See You, To See You Nice!

Butler & Wilson teddy keyringI think having Bruce Forsyth on QVC must have rubbed off on me a bit!!! But I'm actually talking about going to see my Mum on Monday and finally meeting her new kitten Tabitha, who is just as adorable as her photos.

My sister had organised the get-together, and come down from Scotland with her husband, as it was the fourth anniversary of my Dad's death.

In previous years I have felt very sad and emotional, but this year I think we were all more reflective about the huge influence he had in our respective lives.

It was a little cold for my Mum, but my sister and her husband, and Chris and I, went to the Memorial Gardens, where we had planted a Winter Jasmine in his memory, and I am pleased to report it was looking very healthy and sporting some yellow blossoms – Richard Jackson would have been impressed!

Tabitha has been great company for my Mum and wasn't in the least bit fazed by the sudden arrival of lots of 'new' people. She is very playful and I am just wondering if my Mum will dare to put up a Christmas tree this year – I can see Tabby perching on the top of that for a bit of fun! Like all young things she has a lot of energy!

Talking of energy, I will need plenty for my Zumba show tonight at 8pm. If you are trying to drop a couple of pounds to fit into 'that' dress for your Christmas parties, there is still time!

I have a busy weekend ahead with lots of great shows including L'Occitane, Gatineau and Kipling, and in between times I will be baking a birthday cake for Daniel for his birthday on Sunday, and hopefully squeezing a football match in too!

And then of course the Butler and Wilson TSV on Monday midnight. I have the teddy option of the keyring (pictured above), which is really cute. It comes with a chain so you can detach the keyring and wear it as a necklace if you want to. What a clever idea! They will be Simon's last shows of 2011 so hope to see you there!

P.S. My Elemis TSV's arrived today – hope you got yours!

    Hi Julia
How nice of you and your sister to get together with your Mum. It’s always hard on anniversaries, birthdays and christmas, but I always have a little chat with Mum and Dad on those occasions…when I’m on my own, usually first thing in the morning.
I’ve got something to post to you shortly, so look out for a bright blue jiffy bag…saying no more, other than I remember you saying something a while ago…quite the tease, like yourself LOL!
Had a few trips to the Drs this last week. Terrible headache on the right side, front to back. I suffer with the odd migrane, but it wasn’t that and thought it may be related to my fall, when I hit my head on the patio, because it was that side. Tried one lot of tablets, which didn’t work and am now on another set, which hopefully have…at least today and yesterday. She thinks it may be related to a trapped nerve in my neck, which doesn’t surprise me after all the tossing and turning I do at night, not being able to sleep at the moment, lucky if I get 2-3 hours, for some reason I keep waking up thinking I’ve been to sleep for ages!
Hope you have a good time with the Zumba tonight, but as you have said to me, don’t overdo it, remember your sore hip a couple of weeks ago…take care!

    Hi Julia,
Gosh you have been busy, it must have been nice to see your sister and nice for your Mum as well. Yes it is always sad when you lose someone close, in time it gets easier but you never forget them. Glad Tabitha is settling in, if she is anything like my Guiness she will love the tree, he sits under it and wacks everything in site, it is when you come down in the morning and you find the baubles all over the floor, and days after when you are hoovering they appear from under the chairs etc stuck on the end of the hoover. You looked like you enjoyed the Zumba, you certainly have some energy, some super shows on over the weekend I see. Looking forward to Butler and Wilson, yes I got my Elemis TSV in the week, in fact I purchased two, it is super, like all their products. Enjoy your weekend, and your football. Happy birthday to Daniel.
    Love Jean XX

    Hi Julia
Great to hear about the kitten. Some years ago “friends” had a late baby and called her which another rather tactless friend said “thats a cats name”….I rest my case. It is amazing how time flies with regards to your father. My mother’s anniversary was 7 yrs past in April and my darling father 6 yrs past September. It is always hard at this time of hear as I have no family near and thus wish christmas was passed and onto 2012. However I have done my bit and my shopping is finished thanks to QVC. Keep going girl, you are looking fabulous

    Hi Annette
Sorry to hear you have been suffering bad headaches – I hope the new tablets are continueing to work?? Have you tried having a lavender candle burning for an hour or so before bedtime – sometimes helps to relax you.
I enjoyed myself with the Zumba show on Friday, but I was mindful of my sore hip although I must say it has been OK for the last couple of weeks – funny enough, I wondered if that was a trapped nerve.
I think I have come to the conclusion that I just have to be a bit more careful doing the things that I used to take for granted! LOL
I’m intrigued about the contents of the blue jiffy bag … I will keep an eye open for it

    Hi Julia,
Glad to hear the hip held up ok for the Zumba. Only saw a snippet of your show as lots on the telly that night!! I know you said before what sort of dancing you did but I forget…was it cabaret type? I was wondering how you coped with you having a weak leg and you said you struggle with Zumba steps? I watched a few of Claire and Anne’s shows the last time and both were just fab at it! You can tell Anne does it all the time!!
    Look after that hip!

    Hi Jean
Daniel had a lovely birthday thanks – it would have been even better if Palace had managed to beat Millwall on Saturday instead of a nil nil draw!
Just off to see Simon prior to his TSV launch at midnight – hope you like it as much as the Elemis TSV.
I’ve just about recovered from my exertions in the Zumba show LOL!

It’s amazing how thoughtless some people can be isn’t it? I think Tabitha a rather sweet girls name – one of those old fashioned ones that are popular again.
I’m sorry this is not a great time of year for you – I hope you have good friends around you who make it a little easier.
    Thanks for your lovely compliment

Give your mum a hug from me. My mum has also had breast cancer and is over 10 years clear now – they do amaze us constantly at what they can deal with don’t they.
See you at midnight for B & W – all options are really cute!
Can’t be without my Yankees – I’m burning Baby Powder in the lounge at the moment – DIVINE!!

    Hi Julia
Hoping to post the jiffy bag before the weekend, head pemitting! Off the the Dr’s again tomorrow morning, it’s driving me crazy, literally. Put the plates under the grill last night to warm up, walked away and because my head was hurting I forgot…they were way too hot to use 15 minutes later!
Sorry, but missed your show last night with Simon, I’m going to bed early because of my head at the moment, but just caught the replay this morning. You are right ‘Bobby’ is a westie, well done for remembering. The necklace looks lovely, thank you for thinking of me, you are so nice and Simon’s designs are brilliant!
Sounds like you’ve been a busy girl with the baking, chocolate cake and Christmas cake, hope Daniel had a great day! Not managed to make my Christmas cake yet, although need to do it soon as the fruit has been soaking in brandy for over a week now, tipsy or what!
Must go now Bobby is at the bottom of the stairs…he’s such a good boy, he’s not allowed to come up the stairs on his own because they are wood and he slides all over the place, so he waits patiently at the bottom, making little grumbling noises to let you know he’s there!

p.s. enjoyed the Zumba, you did very well keeping up, you little flirt you LOL!

    Hi Julia
Speaking of Brucey, am I right in thinking you were one of the Dolly Dealers on ‘Play Your Cards Right’? Glad to hear your Dad’s anniversary was a bit easier to deal with. You never get over it do you, it just gets a little easier to handle as the years go by. How did you find the gorgeous Tabitha? The Christmas dec’s are always great fun with cats, though it does get tiring after a few days of continually picking up baubles and tinsel! My darling Suki (aged 18 and 3/4) can only manage to sit under the tree now and tug at the branches with her teeth. She still manages to knock a few baubles off though! Casper on the other hand (aged 14 and 1/2) still easily manages to knock the whole tree over – three times last year! Needless to say, mine don’t go up until the last minute! My Elemis arrived last Thursday. I was straight into the hand cream. What about that smell, eh!

I thought Bobby was a Westie but my memory occasionally plays tricks on me these days! Me flirt???? – how could you suggest such a thing?! LOL
I made the second Christmas cake yesterday for the backstage gang – at least I will be in this year to enjoy it with them as I am working Boxing Day and the 27th. You better do yours soon or everyone will get drunk with just one tiny slice!
    Wishing you better

No I wasn’t a ‘Dolly Dealer’ with Brucey I was one of Leslie Crowther’s hostesses on the ‘Price is Right’ – chapter thirty four in my book LOL!
Poppy is very good and doesn’t climb the tree, but if a bauble falls off she is all over it!

    Hello dc12340
The definition in my arms is a combination of swimming, particularly backstroke, Pilates and wearing wrist weights when I walk on the treadmill.
The Pilates exercises I particularly like are ‘hug a tree’, overhead press and bicep curls.
I don’t work with big weights, just a lb on each wrist, as I don’t want really bulky arms.
    Hope this helps

Didn’t Celtic get beaten in the Europa Cup last night. Don’t want to mention it to my sister as it is her hubbie’s birthday today!!
We have Cardiff in the semi finals in January. It has been so good for us financially – we might even end up being able to keep Wifred Zaha!!
David Wright was man of the match for me.
Hope your form picks up soon

    Hi Julia
Have you stopped smiling yet! Ambrose goal was an absolute screamer. Palace played very well and with the unbiased glasses on – I think deserved to win! Great draw for the semis too. Will you be looking to go to that game?
Celtic did get beat but they were playing A Madrid so not surprising they lost really. However they were building a bit of momentum so I wasnt sorry to see them lose the game!
I’m right in thinking Palace are playing again tonight arent they? Some reward for winning at Old Trafford – play again 48 hours later!!! Fingers crossed but the players will be shattered both physically and emotionally you would think.
We play Dunfermline tomorrow at Ibrox and Celtic dont play til Sunday so its a chance to put some pressure back on them.
Have a great weekend and Fingers crossed for the red n blue tonight! Hope your brother in law had a fgood day too – honest!!!
    Take care

Thanks Julia for getting back to me, I hadn’t thought of wearing wrist weights, I can’t swim, but do walk my hyperactive dog 4-5 miles every night, can’t wait to get home tonight and try that! Now that I think about it I’ve seen a few walkers recently carrying weights, they must have the same idea as you!
Thanks again for getting back to me.

    Hi Julia
The plates didn’t crack, the white has a tinge of brown on it now!
Have upped the tablets for my head and have to go back and see the Dr again next week. It has subsided a bit, but don’t want to tempt fate at the moment!
I saw the footie results and thought of you, jumping with joy over beating Man Utd, well done, bet you were glued to the telly?!
Actually made the Christmas cake yesterday, surprised it’s turned out ok after all the silly things I did making it, but at least it’s done now.
At long last ordered and received OPI’s Nail Envy (orignal and matte). I’ve given Chris the matte bottle because his thumb nail has weakened and splits in the middle due to playing his guitar and I was mortified to learn that he had been putting ‘superglue’ on!! He’s under strict instructions now LOL!

I have replied to you on my other blog – the euphoria of beating Man Utd has just about worn off now! Can’t believe they are also out of the Champions League along with Man City!
My brother in law DID have a nice birthday as he is not a Celtic fan – he ( unlike me ) is true to his roots and supports Nottingham Forest along with his eldest daughter – the rest of the family are Celtic fans …… at least they never have the rivalry over a family derby.

    Hi Susan
Sorry I missed your comment. I did all sorts of dancing – I trained in ballet, modern and tap from the age of 3 ( although I did have a 2 year break when my Mum was ill ). Professionally I used all the different styles I had studied in Pantos, Summer shows, Cabaret and theatre shows. It takes up several chapters of my book as there are some quite amusing stories, as you can imagine.
My hip is much better thanks – maybe it was just over exertion in the swimming pool! I had a lovely five days off thanks -now on a run of nine days without a break

    Hi Susan
My Mum and Dad used to do ballroom dancing and asked which I would prefer to do ballet or ballroom when I restarted dancing after my Mum’s illness! Although I loved the ballroom costumes I’ve always had a passion for ballet. It’s quite funny that we girls didn’t run into each when we were all dancers – but them I’m older so that would have been much less likely for me.

    Hi Julia,
Lovely that your Mum and Dad did ballroom. I adore it! Beautiful and elegant I think. So many classes are full these days! I’m so interested that you didn’t find it difficult obviously doing ballet even though you have a weak leg. Is that right? I remember you said you struggle with Zumba moves. I wonder why? I must say you don’t look as comfortable on the shows as you do on Pilates. Hope the hip is better at the minute as well?
    Take care
