Hello and welcome to another blog!
I hope you are all well and enjoying the arrival of spring. Isn’t it lovely when the garden starts bursting into life? My daffodils, hyacinths and anenomes have been in flower for a few weeks now and the tulips are just poking their heads through too. I bought some new ones last year so I can’t wait to see what they look like. My camelia has come to life too – don’t you think the flower looks unreal? It is so perfect!
We actually have a lot of garden clearance still to do, as it hadn’t been touched for a long time when we moved in a year and a half ago. Everything had just got a bit too old and out of control so most of it is coming out. It makes me excited thinking of ideas, though. I’ve got a whole big bed to fill, partly shady as it is at the end of our south-facing garden and we have very heavy clay soil so plants will be chosen carefully. Lots of roses I think – my fave! Safe to say I have been browsing QVC’s offerings for the gardens and will be buying just as soon as the clearing is done – a job that is waiting until after our honeymoon now.
And speaking of spring and new life in the garden – we’ve had some new arrivals at my parents’ house – PUPPIES! Lovely Pearl has had four lovely little black lab pups. The poor thing had to be rushed to the vet for an emergency C-section but is absolutely fine now, apart from being a bit annoyed that she has to look after four very demanding squeaky creatures. I had no idea new born puppies could be so noisy – they can squeak pretty loudly when they want something! They are all soft and velvety and seem to grow by the hour, let alone the day and are nearly a week old. I am in love and have a particular fondness for the smallest little boy, but Lawrence says one dog is enough (harrumph!). Here are some photos of them for you to coo over – look at their little ears and wrinkles!! Can’t wait til their eyes open.
So apart from puppy cuddling, I have mostly been doing more wedding admin – we are pretty much sorted now but still a few little bits to organise and I keep remembering more! This will be my last blog before the wedding, so I hope you are ready for wedding and honeymoon spam when I get back!
At QVC, we’ve has some great shows – I spent most of the weekend with jewellery which was lovely! Diamonds on Saturday and a three-hour Diamonique Spectacular on Sunday with Allison O’Reilly. The best of both worlds and a whole lot of fun. I loved seeing people’s messages about their favourite Diamonique pieces – some of them were many years old and still looking fab! Let me know if you have a favourite piece – I’d love to hear about it. We’ve jewellery for every taste online, so it’s worth a browse if you want to change up your look – the range of designs in Diamonique especially is really impressive!
I’ve also treated myself to some new footwear. As we are moving out of boots weather, I am finding that I don’t have many pairs of practical shoes that aren’t looking totally worn-out and dirty. I think our footwear range at QVC is fab, so I had a little look on the app and found these plimsolls from Cath Kidston. Simple shape, comfy, practical and FLORAL – right up my street. They actually only arrived yesterday and I put them straight on with jeans and a Joules top and wore them for my afternoon of running errands. I’m really impressed by how comfy they are – no need to wear these in.
I’ve also got what I would call a “smarter” pair of trainers from Vionic. These are new to the range and I chose this beautiful mauve tone as I think they can make a bit of a statement but aren’t too far from neutral, so they will go with lots. They are a chunkier style and their laces are ribbon-like, which I think is a lovely touch and makes them more feminine. I’m going to try them out with a few different outfits on-air, so keep your eyes peeled. It is actually worth keeping an eye on the Vionic range, as us presenters have been privy to a sneak-peek of styles they have coming up on QVC, and there are some fab ones!
Lastly, I wanted a pair of trainers for everything – popping to the shops, dog walking, walking up Italian mountains on our honeymoon – the lot! AND I didn’t want them to look boring but obviously they need to be comfy and that boring p-word: PRACTICAL. Cue Skechers! I ordered two pairs on the app, thinking that I would decide between the two, but now they have arrived I think I may just keep them both – I know that they are good quality and last a long time, as so many of the presenters at QVC swear by them. I got a lovely lilac tone again, and the grey/mint ones are not only a fab colour mix, but also have the bungee laces which I like because it means you can just slip them on super quickly as you rush out the door. Both of them are available on the website or app now and there are loads more Skechers styles there too. Perhaps I’ll give you an update on how I find them and which I prefer.
So real treats for my feet this week and a sparkly bracelet to boot – not bad! Oh, I should also mention that Liz Earle are celebrating 23 years with QVC with some special shows this week, the last of which are today, I believe. They are really celebrating their ‘Core Four’, which is essentially the whole skincare routine that goes along with their famous Cleanse & Polish. Whether you’re new to Liz Earle or a big fan, these sets are really lovely and make you feel like you are giving your skin special treatment.
That’s it for this week’s blog – I’m off to find some table favours for children – not sure I can give them my homemade sloe gin! I’ll be back on here after the wedding etc to share some photos and I’m sure there will be a puppy update too! In the meantime, I’m at QVC this week and early next week too and you can always catch up with me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your week,
