Firstly, for Friday readers, don’t forget to vote in our Customer Beauty Awards – your favourite brands need you (closes at midnight today Friday 22nd)! Results with Alison Young next Friday 29th at 9pm.

And secondly – hot off the press – Gatineau’s Michaela has had her baby! Little Milo Frederick Jeans was born early Thursday (21st Aug) at 8:04am, weighing 7.3lbs – “all well” says Andrew – pass it on! Michaela told me ‘Yesterday was quite a day! He looks a bit like yoda at the moment so am gonna wait a few days for pics. He’s adorable xx’.

Well what a nice time I had on Tuesday this week, after hot-footing it back from my spa break (see below about that). We went out and about on the streets of Chiswick to ask passers by four questions:

1. What is your skin care routine to help recover from the summer?
2. How do you keep yourself fit, to prepare for the party season?
3. What do you own that means a lot to you, eg jewellery?
4. How do you make sure you get a good night’s sleep?

From those four topics you can guess what the themes for each weeks’ Back to You show will be! These videos will form the basis of the ‘vox-pop’ clips played in each week, when my well-being show returns to QVC UK on the 1st September at 9pm.

Debbie and crewWe heard some funny answers all right, and it was nice to work with the lovely crew. It’ll be fabulous to begin the shows again – Bruce and his Bodyblade is lined up for the second week – would you like to be a caller? If so, let me know. Or if you’d like to tell me what your answers are for questions 1-4 above, just leave a comment below!

Adele SBC messageAnd don’t forget in the run up to Back To You, at 8-9pm on our Facebook group we have a weekly live chat, this week it’s the turn of SBC’s Adele – appearing on the evening she launches the new TSV. Go here to see Craigy tell you all about it – he’s done a great video on this week’s blog.

Debbie and TovaDon’t forget to join our Back to You QVC group – link is below – just ping a request! We have around 1,500 members now, and this week, lovely Tova also said she’d join us at some point! She was in this week with her lash building mascara!

We’ve also now confirmed Lee Hohbein, Alexis from L’Occitane, and Tom from Alpha H over the next month or so. It’s becoming a sought-after thing to do – many guests saying how much they enjoyed it!

Read last week’s Back to You blog here, for the full Q&A with Laura Geller, Abi Cleeve (Ultrasun), presenter Catherine, and our fab photographer Mat Trim who discussed his 5:2 diet weight loss, oh and naturally camera tips.

Also on last Monday’s blog –
– My semi-autobiographical weight loss book ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ (2002) is now just 99p, find out how to get it
– What eating too much processed meat does to you – a Michael Mosley Horizon special
– And one doctor with MS tells of her experience of changing her life by changing her diet

P.S – stop the press – watch out for when Alison Young will be joining the chat room on Friday 29th August!

Debbie in ChampneyOh what a shame my most recent break wasn’t quite as good as it usually is! The place itself was just as lovely, the food great and the regular staff fabulous, plus I had a superb – and I mean superb – head, scalp and shoulder massage by the Elemis lady Julie in the shop.

BUT OMG there were some howlers this time! From things being forgotten about, to unfortunately quite a lot of difficulty making myself understood to some of the staff, who were also quite new and some of whom didn’t understand my English! Eeek!

Nevertheless, I got a lot of writing done again, had a nice swim and some classes and of course wonderful food.

I did have a glass of red wine on Monday night during my spa break, and just after we’d finished the hectic Back to You live chat (see above) – I really began to feel rubbish! Haha! Good job I don’t drink, isn’t it – I’d be such a lightweight! Anyway, onwards and… downwards!

The updated version of ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ (2.0 – The When Diet) will be ready mid September – if you have any stories about it helping you, then do let me know! And do leave a review on Amazon for me if so!

I’m due back at Champneys with my daughter for her birthday soon – I just hope it’s all sorted out by then!

Centigrade jacketSneaky Peek – Centigrade TSV Tuesday midnight and thru Wed. A water-resistant quilted coat – join me and the lovely Glenn Campbell for the launch. Don’t forget to check out our TV guide on home page to go up to three weeks ahead!

PeterShhh! Peter Sherlock joins QVC to guest Lalique my old pal, perfume expert Peter joins us for a new show on 3rd September at 5pm with Jackie – do join him! He’s such a lovely, funny guy – you must watch. And if you remember him, do leave a comment below to welcome him to the fold!

Samsung Today's Special Value

Super-power Samsung vacuuming this weekend! James Murden is already excitedly tweeting about this Saturday’s (23rd August) new TSV, two-in-one vac – it’s utterly stunning!

The way it removes dirt from the carpet I have to say – just look at this little lot – from around eight minutes vacuuming of an already-cleaned lounge! Here I tell you all about it – can you tell I like it?! Just in time to help extract all the muck from the old carpets in Lauren and Nick’s new home (see below). If there’s any left, I will have it in the Practical Ideas show at 5pm.

BLOOPER – The talk of the bloopers this week has been this little prank – Chloe’s revenge on Jackie here’s a little funny for you from last week on air!

Antthony Funny Had such fun with the lovely guy – he didn’t let us down! He’s back again in October, then I go out to see him in LA in November – yay!

Other highlights this week on QVC –

AdornME bracelet303498Adorn Me jewellery debuts

Molton Brown trainingMolton Brown are back! A big ‘yay!’ for our former bestselling brand, one hour only this visit, Monday 25th at 10pm. What’s the betting so much sells out early?!

I went to the training the other day and my goodness we have got some great bargains! Half the hour I think will go – and judging by the numbers they told me, it may even be half gone by the time we go to air!

HOT TIP – look online – many of the bargains will have been uploaded, and buy early!

Yale comp prizeAnd finally, to help herald in a new show called Discover Smart Homes on Saturday week (7pm on Saturday 30th) here’s a stupendous prize to win in a random draw – it’s a  the Yale EF-KIT2 worth £249.99 on the high street. To win this amazing prize all you have to do is e-mail with ‘Discover Smart Homes’ in the subject line.

Competition closes Friday 29th at midday and winner will be announced during the show on Saturday 30th – find the full terms and conditions here.

Mat Trim spoke about his products when he guested on Back to You live chat last Monday, saying he’s looking forward to showing you the Belkin WEMO products whch allow you to control lighting, cooking, cameras pretty much anything electrical with your smart phone when you’re away!

My dad on a donkey Siblings get together Last week we celebrated my publishing deal, plus marked what would have been Dad’s 75th birthday! He came too – on a donkey pic! Bless him, RIP Pa.

Debbie walk Country walks I’ve had some lovely walks in the warmer weather – but even when it rains, the dogs still need walking! Ranmore Common this time – pretty!

Essentials at PifzerVisit to Pfizer for Imedeen As I mentioned on the recent Beauty Problem Solvers show, I had great results with this marine collagen supplement for good skin.

I’ve been taking the tablets since January now, and Emma from the company measured me again when I went to see her one lunchtime last week – the density of my skin is what they measure and since the start it’s gone up by around 10%, which she says is fab.

I probably agree, then, with the funny sign above their supplements, aspirins and tampons counter – it’s all ‘essentials’! Lol.

Filming... Mapp and Lucia composer… and me Went to supper in Reigate Café Rouge with one of my oldest pals, composer Kevin Sargent. He’s very busy – been writing music for the new series of Mapp and Lucia, out nearer Christmas. It stars Miranda Richardson who I hear is utterly superb! Go here to see more about it.

OAP snapOAP’s Chat! Go to this link to read a little interview they asked me to do about me and my life and preferences (ooer!) lol! Fun chat – good little site too!

Facebook funny 1Facebook Funny one Saw this on the lovely group ‘I’m a QVC UK Queen’ on Facebook this week – thought it was very apt – exactly how I feel when a new parcel comes.

Facebook funny 2Facebook Funny two And this one, given the amazing Samsung TSV vac theme this weekend! And the cleaning ahead for my dear daughter (DD) in her new imminent new home!

WATCH – Bridget Jones Fest

Bridget Jones I watched ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ again this week and have to say it still does it for me every time! Several of us were on Facebook chatting about it as it happened – that’s the most wonderful thing about social media, isn’t it?!

When I went on-air with my Yankee Candle show last week, we asked: ‘If you had a duvet day, what fragrance would you burn and which film would you watch?’ Well, what’s yours? Leave me a comment below.

From ‘Pretty Woman’ to ‘Mamma Mia’ to ‘Die Hard’ (yes really!) they all came flooding through. My top film ever, pretty much, with ‘top bloke, really’ is Colin Firth as Mark Darcy – and let’s face it, bit of a crush now actually.

I gave it 9.75 out of ten, highest I’ve ever given. Then the sequel was about a 9 for book two, ‘Edge of Reason’. Book three, ‘Mad About the Boy’ out last year, has a plot which is also brilliant, though unexpected, and is read outstandingly well by Samantha Bond, one of my fave narrators. Here’s author Helen Fielding talking about it. Oh and search ‘deleted scenes’ on YouTube for some great deleted extras! So below is the director’s stance on creating one or two of those iconic moments from the movie.

NEXT WEEK – my lovely son Brad takes me to see ‘The Book of Mormon’ as a belated birthday pressie (it was May but we took ages to get dates in diary!) and Lauren and Nick get keys to new home – it needs a total revamp – now their hard work really begins!

Have a splendiferous week ahead!

    Hi Deb,
Watching your shows tonight and I have a question. I LOVE the blouse you’re wearing. Is it QVC or your own? Any chance you can hint where from if so – cheeky I know. 🙂
You are looking great btw, not that there was anything wrong with the curvier you (my male friends all think you’re gorgeous 🙂 ) I do love your honesty when talking sizes. It’s very frustrating buying clothes and having to return because size is too small. And the example tonight with Glen re TSV jacket was sooooo helpful.
Best get my flatcoat off my lap and on the bed.
Thanks for all your hard work. Nite nite. Nessie x

    Nessie –
It’s a Dreamkeeper – poet style jacket – here are several like it, do have a look online hon! I do love it !
Yes I do my best with the sizing. Seriously hard to get it right all the time, but it’s one of my pet things, as a sale that comes back is not a sale, it’s a disappointed customer.
    Thanks for appreciating it!

    Brilliant blog!
    In answer to your questions…
    1. What is your skin care routine to help recover from the summer? … Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!! (mostly Decleor, Elemis, Gatineau, Alpha-H, etc.)
    2. How do you keep yourself fit, to prepare for the party season? … I don’t know who has all these parties – I never seem to be invited! But to get fitter, it starts in my head. Meditation, relaxation, then body blading!
    3. What do you own that means a lot to you, eg jewellery? … The sentimental possessions mean more to me than any material object, so if it was jewellery, it has to be both my mother’s wedding and engagement rings, followed by the first bit of gold bought for me by my parents, my signet ring. (Then my wedding ring!)
    4. How do you make sure you get a good night’s sleep? … Ah, if only I had the answer for this! Like you Debbie, I am a night owl. Most helpful hints that work for me are to have the room cool but not cold, the bedding light but warm (Northern Nights down duvet!), as dark as possible and as quiet as possible (using earplugs and eyeshade if needed).
As for your question ‘If you had a duvet day, what fragrance would you burn and which film would you watch?’ I would have to say the entire Lord of The Rings movie collection, with cosy, comforting fragrances of Soft Blanket and Fluffy Towels!
Enjoy your theatre date to see The Book of Mormon! Wish I was coming with you! (Have you read THE Book of Mormon book? It is excellent, exciting, intriguing, moving, inspirational and comes with a promise, but you will have to read it and test the promise for yourself!)
Well, look at that – I wrote a blog too! (Well, nearly! LOL!)
    Bye for now! Jill x x x
