How have I lived without it? I absolutely love it. I’m talking about the Kuhn Rikon Pull Chopper, it’s basically like having your very own sous chef in the kitchen every day and it takes the effort of laborious chopping away.
For a start you’ll never have to chop another onion or clove of garlic – these being the basis of most recipes from soups to Bolognese to chilli, pasta sauces, lasagne… you name it. You can start to experiment straight away with new homemade sauces fresh with herbs and spices; you can blitz your own tomatoes in it for stews, sauces or soups. Everything I’ve made is bursting with healthy freshness and flavour.
Recently I made homemade hummus in seconds: chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, pinch of parsley, lime juice and black pepper pull the chopper around a dozen times and you’re done. You’re also in control of how chunky or fine you want your food.
I had a crack at making homemade sundried tomato pesto too, it was a doddle: sundried tomatoes, basil, pine nuts, Parmesan, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and a splash of lemon juice. Again pull the chopper around a dozen times to blitz it all together and it’s done. Layer this on top a couple of salmon slices packed with protein and omega oils for a super healthy and tasty meal, serves with spring greens and sweet potato. Done.
I’m also going to make fresh salsas when I have barbecues, I’ve got some dips in mind too. Whether it’s fruit purée, stuffing, hummus, pesto, salsa, breadcrumbs, garlic butter, pizza toppings and pasta sauces; I just can’t believe how simple and easy it is.
You are in total control of the ingredients, I’m a bit of a black pepper and fresh chilli fiend so I can throw those in as I desire; season to your taste. The best thing is nothing is packaged or processed just fresh nutritious food for you and your family. I absolutely love it; I’ve ordered one for my parents who are now ordering one for my brother!
