My Holiday Must-Haves

4

Hello!

Thanks for popping by for my latest blog. I hope you’ve all had a cracking Bank Holiday weekend. I spent most of it doing DIY, which is a bit of a Bank Holiday stereotype isn’t it?! We are prepping some walls for being painted, which involves lots of scraping off tiny remnants of wallpaper, sanding down and filling any holes (of which there are a LOT). So all pretty tedious really. I did also get some new plants in the garden, though, so that’s a bonus.

We’ve actually just got back from a week away in Cornwall, which was a real treat. It seems such luxury to go on another holiday just after we went on our honeymoon last month, but my Mum booked it a year ago before we were even engaged! So it’s not been a bad April/May at all! We went with my Mum and Dad, their two dogs, my brother and his friend Anna and of course Monty came down too. It was a lovely relaxing break where we did bits and bobs but nothing too taxing. The dogs love the beach, especially my parents’ dog Pearl, who had just said goodbye to her puppies (except one which my parents have kept but he didn’t come away with us as he was too small) so it was good fun to watch them play in the sea. My Dad’s dog Spud, an ageing Cocker Spaniel, even got a new lease of life and swam quite a long way after a swan. None of us could quite believe the pace he went!

I thought I might share a few things I took away with me, including some absolute essentials I wouldn’t go anywhere without. Here’s a little snap I took on the lovely dresser in our room there. Most of the things you see here I use every day and then there’s a couple of extras too.

Let’s start with make-up: you can see I’m a fan of Tarte and, like most of us at QVC, I swear by their Shape Tape Concealer that you can see here. I use the shade Fair every day, but sometimes Light when the make-up artists “warm me up” a bit for the telly (my face is pretty reflectively white under those studio lights). I also have a fab eyeshadow palette from them, which comes in a set with the foundation brush and some other goodies and their Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara, which is my absolute desert island mascara – gives me lovely long lashes every time! IT Cosmetics are another favourite of mine and you can see both the CC Cream Foundation (Fair for me, of course) and Bye Bye Pores Powder. I very rarely leave the house without these two on my face!

You might also spy something pretty new from SBC here too. It’s their Cucumber Micellar Gel Cleanser we actually have in a couple of “discoveries” sets from them at the moment, so you can try it out with a few other bits and pieces. We had really warm sunny weather in Cornwall and I was so pleased I brought this with me because it is such a lovely cooling thing to take make-up off with at the end of the day. It cools, refreshes and, most importantly, cleanses! I almost always wear black eyeliner and sometimes more gentle cleansers struggle to get that off but this did the job perfectly. Oh, and a little goes a long way, so this is going to last me months and months! Perfect for summer skincare.

The necklace on the dresser is Lola Rose of course, and comes in lots of semi-precious stone options. It’s the Medina necklace and mine is the Flamingo Pink Magnesite option. I like this over plain tops or dresses.

I also want to share with you some new fashion items I took with me. I managed to get myself some of these gorgeous spotty culottes from Phase Eight and I love them. I say ‘managed’ because I did a show of Phase Eight recently and almost everything sold out in my size! These are great for summertime with their wide leg cut and you don’t have to worry about wearing a skirt if you’ve got children or dogs to run around after! I’ve paired them with a simple white T (navy looks great too and I think better for evening style) and my other new find, which are these fab Geox Jaysen trainers. I like that these aren’t too clumpy because I find trainers that have huge soles can sometimes make my feet look a little big as I have quite bony ankles. I went for the white option, which has touches of navy and gold, but they come in a fab silver option too! I really like this outfit for summer days out and about.

Obviously I had my Ultrasun with me, as it isn’t ever far from me as soon as the weather gets warmer. I really like the gel sports formula and used this and the face fluid every day. I find I can put this on and I am set for the day. My Dad, who has very fair skin like me, tried it for the first time – he put it on in the morning and stayed outside fishing all day. He was so surprised and pleased that it lasted all day and he didn’t get burnt and has asked me to get him some too. You probably know by now that I won’t use any other sun protection now!

If you want to get your fake bake on before you go on holiday or, perhaps, like me, the real thing is never going to happen, then we have loads of options. One really popular brand is Vita Liberata – they are a real heavyweight in the tan world and create fabulous products that some of the most avid fake tanners I know absolutely swear by – these three are all available on our website, as well as a few of their other innovative tan products.

One last thing I really want to shout about is the new Body Balm from Liz Earle. I am IN LOVE with this. I’ll be honest, I’m not the best at religiously moisturising, but this really makes me want to do it. It smells like heaven! If you want something that smells like nature and a spa treatment all in one, then this is the stuff. It’s super silky and you really only need a tiny amount as it goes so far. It is rich but not too heavy and sinks in quickly, just leaving the lovely fragrance. I cannot praise it enough and even my husband keeps stealing it to use on his legs (think I might hide it).

Just a quick note to remind you that we have some fab Big Deals running this week, including an Ultrasonic Facial Cleanser, Nina Leonard Denim Knit Trousers and a fab Kipling Weekender Bag.

I’ve no more holidays planned now, so you’ll be seeing a bit more of me at QVC for the foreseeable and I have got some fantastic shows coming up. As always, please do keep in touch on social media and I’ll keep you updated with what I’m doing.

And I’ll sign off with a photo of the puppy Mum and Dad are keeping – he is called Ruger (pronounced Roo-ga). Have a great week!
