My first blog for QVC

Reporting on duckweedHello,

Very pleased to meet you! I’m Jackie, QVC’s newest presenter, and I’m very excited to be here! A bit about me – I’ve been a journalist for my entire career to date, first in newspapers and then on TV.

Some of you may remember me from GMTV, where I spent nearly a decade travelling the world and covering memorable stories including famine in Ethiopia, the Asian tsunami, the Soham murders and more floods than I care to remember… I was quite glad to hang up my waders when I left!

For the News At Ten in DoverAbove is a picture of me from those days, in an enormous drysuit, reporting on a duckweed epidemic in Britain’s canals. On the left is one from when I was reporting on a very windy boat out at sea – not very glamorous assignments!

For the past few years early birds may have spotted me reading the ITV morning news at 5.30am or, if you live in the Midlands, you might have seen me reporting or news-reading on BBC Midlands Today, as well as on various other programmes.

But last October I realised I’d been in news for 20 years, and maybe it was time for a change. So when the chance to audition for QVC came along, I jumped at it, and here I am!

I’ve had a fantastic welcome from the lovely team at QVC and now I can’t wait to get on air and start working! I’d love to hear from you too, so please get in touch, either by leaving comments on this blog or following me on Twitter – my Twitter name is @jackiekabler.

I’ll be blogging regularly and keeping you up to date with how it’s all going here. It’s all very different to what I’ve done before, so it’ll be a challenge, but a very exciting one – wish me luck!

Jackie x
