My Corrie tour, a school reunion and some gorgeous bedding!

Hi everyone!

I’ve had an insanely busy couple of weeks – finally time to catch my breath and write a much overdue blog update. Coming up – a school reunion and a preview of some gorgeous bedding that will be a Today’s Special Value on QVC on Wednesday 20th August. But first – drum roll… I have finally walked the cobbles of Coronation Street!

Now, if you’re not a fan of the show, you won’t find this remotely exciting, but I’ve watched it for most of my life – over 40 years – and I can honestly say that stepping onto that street was a bigger moment for me than when I saw the pyramids in Egypt. Sad, but true! You may remember that my sister Loraine and I gave my mum the gift of a tour of the street and a girlie weekend in Manchester for Mother’s Day.

Pulling pintsI think we were more excited than she was that the day had finally arrived! The tour is absolutely fantastic, but if you want to go, make it quick – it finishes in October.

You get to see lots of the indoor sets, including Gail’s living room, and are shown loads of famous props, from Deirdre’s glasses to poor Hayley’s coffin. (I touched it. I also touched Roy’s cardigan. This thrilled me. That is how big a fan I am.)

School reunionHere’s a couple of shots of us – above left is mum and I outside the Rovers, and then above is the three of us pulling a pint. It was a sheer joy! From there, I zoomed across to Sligo in the west of Ireland for a bit of a reunion – a group of us meeting up to mark 30 years since we left school there. THIRTY YEARS.

We felt so old! However, minutes after getting together, we were all shrieking and giggling like teenagers, and those thirty years simply melted away.

It was just wonderful to see everyone again, as we are now scattered around the world from Ireland to the UK and even as far as Australia. Much wine was drunk, much laughter ensued and we’ve all vowed to do it all again in a couple of years time – I can’t wait!

Mayfair Manor TSVNow, back to work and here’s a sneaky peek at a stunning seven-piece bedding set which will be the Today’s Special Value offer on Wednesday 20th August. It’s from Mayfair Manor, and you will not BELIEVE the price.

I thought it was a misprint when I saw it! There are three colours to choose from – I have been trying the silver, and there’s also cream and aqua. You get a lovely comforter bedspread, a valance, two Oxford pillowcases and three cushions.

Mayfair Manor TSV close-upIt’s so elegant, a real touch of boutique hotel chic, and of course everything from Mayfair Manor is created from innovative fibres which are anti-allergy, soft and durable so it’s very practical too. As you can see in the photos, it’s a floral damask design with twisted cording detail on the cushions – they are beautifully finished.

A complete set like this is such a great way to instantly transform your room, or a guest bedroom. You could pop one of the cushions on a chair too, if you don’t want them all on the bed. All you need to add is your sheets.

I reckon you could search high and low on the High Street and never find a seven-piece set like this for the price this will be on Wednesday – for one day only though! I’ll be presenting the 3pm show on the day so hopefully see you then.

Have a marvellous week,

Love Jackie x

    Hi Liz,
I was born in Coventry but spent 13 years of my childhood in Sligo and Dublin so went to secondary school and university there. Yes my mum still lives there, in Leitrim. I always love to go back and it was fantastic to see all my friends again! Thanks for getting in touch.

Hi Jackie, love your blogs they always make me smile. How do you manage to pack so much into your time of and still have the energy to present on QVC ? You are a breath of fresh air since you started presenting on QVC, long may you continue. I read your tweet about feeling old at having 5yr old great nieces. I am a great aunt to 10, the oldest being 29 and the youngest 6 and great-great aunt to a 5yr old and a 1yr old and I’m not yet 62 lol. Take care, Maggie x

    Hi Maggie
I love working at QVC so thanks for the kind comment! Can’t believe you are great aunt to 10, wow. And a great great aunt! I do have more than 20 nieces, nephews and god-children though (despite having no kids of my own!) so birthdays and Christmas get expensive!
    Love Jackie x
