Mothers & Mindful March!

Mindful March

Hope you are well and had a good end to February?

I am so excited that it's a new month and there is so much to look forward to.

Craig and his mumIt's going to be a busy month for me at QVC and I must say I am really looking forward to presenting the 2nd show of Miller & Harris on 17th March (more on that next week!), as well as hosting the first Clare Austin Garden show this weekend and working with fashion legend Diane Gilman for the first time.

March of course is also about Mother's Day and I will be reposting the piece I wrote about beloved Mum towards the end of the month as I know many of you enjoyed reading that. I am also inviting you via my blog and Twitter to send me a quote about your mum whether she is still with you or not and I will put some of these together nearer the time to celebrate all our mums!

Finally, I have decided this month is 'Mindful March' and I would like you to get involved with this. I have had a difficult couple of months so far this year and Mindful March for me is about thinking more about what I do, how I eat, how I spend my time etc and the ways I can improve the quality of life for myself and others. Yes, it's about health and fitness but its also about general happiness and appreciating the little things in life more. Every time I blog I will share with you what has been mindful and how it has changed something and I would love to hear your stories too.

Have a great week, see you on QVC soon. As a final thought I end with a picture of a rainbow across my street a few days ago. Isn't nature wonderful?

Much love,
Craig x

Nature is indeed wonderful Craig! I hope spring brings a new sense of re growth, freshness and zest for you!
We only get one life and it’s hard sometimes but I remind myself daily, I’m responsible for how I feel, how I look, what I do. I am making sure each day I smile and enjoy and make beautiful memories with my kids and husband no matter how rubbish I feel or what life has thrown at me! I will never look back with regret! I’m SPRING-ing forward! ( see what I did there ;-))
My mum is my cheerleader, my guide and my inspiration! And if I’m half as good a mum to my boys as she has been to me then happy days all round!!!
Onwards & upwards! Xx lots of love xx keep smiling….it’s infectious x

I join you in your quest too Craig! I had already started,- what a great idea for you,/ any of us, bound to reap rewards, things like that always do. It’s about trying to stay in the present more isn’t it, wether it’s savouring more, looking at detail more…trying new things maybe or relaxing more….
Sorry you hadn’t had best start to year maybe your mindfulness will change things for the better, it can only help, take care.
Please share any tips, ideas or stories… what inspired the idea do you think?

    Hi Craig,
My late mother had a dream to bring her passion of cake decorating to people with the same interest and so back in the late seventies she and four friends sat around the dining room table in the family home and started to live out her dream. The result being she was the founder of The British Sugarcraft Guild which to date has thousands and thousands of members and has spread to many countries overseas, i.e. Japan, Australia. The member badge has a white swan on a black background as my mother’s surname was Swann – and the logo is My Craft Is My Art
Sadly she passed away 20 years ago aged 67 but the Organisation is still going strong. I feel huge pride in knowing not only was she a wonderful mother, but she was exceptionally talented and made her dream come true. Many thanks Carole Cranney (nee Swann)

Hi Craig something about your mindfulness struck a cord with me and I just finished a mindful weekend and I appreciate my health and well being as I now take more time to stop & smell the roses (as they say..) talking about mum’s my best friend is a mum to a servely disabled child and watching her being a mum to this child really shows what being a mum taken to another level. Seeing her with her son really does make me stop and smell the roses!

    Hey Zoe!
Brill, jump on board! Yes I think our main aim is staying in the present instead of worrying about what lies ahead. I think I’ve been inspired by the change of weather, increased daylight and just realising how wonderful nature is. So after a difficult start to the year its time to start really look after myself and to appreciate my surroundings and make the most of each day.
Keep me updated on here on how your March goes!
    Have a lovely weekend

    Hi Craig,
Love your new blog! I’m definitely doing March mindfully, I’ve started a new exercise regime which includes a bit of yoga and pilates which is very new to me but I’m really enjoying it. Already feeling the benefits and have a lot more energy.
Onto my mum, she’s a amazing woman, I’m one of 5 so she had a busy time when we were growing up but she did a great job. She now sadly has a few illnesses but always stays positive and is always there for us and her grandchildren.
    Keep up the great blogs!

Loving Mindful March, Craig. I paid tribute to my lovely Mum on a blog post recently because we moved her from our family home. She made me who I am today.
I also think the black and white pic of you with your Mummy is gorgeous. I too believe very much in mindfulness. We need to take care of ourselves and try to reach out to others we trust in times when we are feeling fragile or just need to chat. Hope I can be there for you (in a gossip at our dressing rooms) anytime you need me and vice versa! Love from Marverine

Hi Craig, re your ”Mindful March’ campaign, I recently read that bad luck/news is Velcro and good luck/news is Teflon; to paraphrase, in essence we tend to remember bad things far more readily than good, so my ‘Mindful March’ will be to swap these around & really search for and store all the good, happy and wonderful little moments that occur daily. It was a delight to chat with you at the Beauty Bash about last years Mother’s Day tribute to your Mum and am so glad you are reposting it for those who missed your wonderful words.
I do hope all is well for you – you certainly deserve it and it is always a real joy when you are presenting on QVC.
    Best love Penny

    Hi Craig,
I have never written a comment , phoned in, or tweeted before. But I always follow my favourite presenters and you are one of them. I met you at the beauty bash back in January and you are even nicer in the real than on the screen. I love your enthusiasm for all that do do and present and you always make me giggle – so on reading your current blog I’m sad that you have not had a good couple of months I hope it’s nothing too serious or that you’re going to disappear from us.
Life can be difficult and frustrating and can leave you wondering – why? Whatever your problems are my thoughts and good wishes are with you. Stay focused and keep well
    Much love

    Hi Julia!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Yes the middle name is Stirling! Thats interesting that it was your mothers family name! I believe my mum got it from a character on the TV programme called ‘The Champions’.
Hope you’re having a good week and stay in touch.

I can’t commiserate or offer my good wishes for an improvement in your fortunes, wellbeing or health because I don’t know what’s happened in the last couple of months to upset you, but I’m sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch and send my good wishes that life will be happier soon.
There’s a saying in Austrian which roughly translates to: “sometimes you have to be in the shadows to appreciate the sunshine” and it’s really true. Once you are out of this sad phase and evaluated things afresh, you will appreciate everything you don’t perhaps even notice – crocuses coming out in the spring, a thrush’s stunning beauty, how strangers smile at you if you smile first. Simple things but build them up into your day, and your spirits will soar.
I also get down sometimes as I have no family for emotional support but remember what my late father told me: (1) There’s always someone worst off than you and (b) In order to feel better about yourself, go and help someone less fortunate. I can’t tell you how both lift your spirits and your soul.
All good wishes that Life becomes joyous again. You are a lovely, warm, kind-hearted and talented man (that shines through the TV) and good things will find you.
