At QVC – The Last Weekend Kitchen

Can you believe it? Five Saturdays have flown by and The Weekend Kitchen is over for another series?! It’s been great fun as always, our chefs Dean Edwards, Ching He-Huang and Marcus Bean have inspired us to make the most mouth-watering dishes from all the gorgeous food we have at QVC and Will and I have had the torturous job of having to eat our way through the shows, tough times. Remember all the recipes have been on my blogs over the last five weeks so have a look through them if you fancy trying them out.

Last week I ran a competition on the blog for a chance for someone to win the signed cook books and The Weekend Kitchen tote bag and mug and I’m pleased to announce that the winner is Lorraine from Renfrewshire. Congratulations and enjoy making Dean and Ching’s recipes!!

Also, the blouse I am wearing in these pictures is from Phase Eight and it’s the Coleen Star Shirt.

Outside of QVC – Mother’s Day

I hope those of you celebrating Mother’s Day had a lovely time. I know it’s a tough day for many people for a number of reasons so I hope you managed to get through it OK.

My girls were very excited to wake me up in the morning as they had been hard at work making cards and choosing flowers for me. They bundled in to bed with us and showed me all their handy work in great detail! I then had a window to myself and went for a gorgeous beach walk with my friends Becki and Rhiannon which was lovely, we did 9K which was a great way to earn my dinner points for later!

Fred had booked us a lovely family meal all together that afternoon and we all indulged in wood fired pizzas rather than the Sunday roast as they just looked sooooo good. I didn’t quite manage to get a nice picture of all of us as Ivy has become increasingly hard to get a normal picture of. Then again, I guess this is her normal so these pictures sum her up right now!

What I’ve been wearingBaukjen Trousers

What the heck are we supposed to wear at the moment?! One minute I’m ready to pack away all the jumpers and next minute I’m digging them out again. We’ve been teased with summer and now that my sandals have come out I am loathed to put them back again! I guess the answer is to dress for Spring but have an extra coat in the car, plus scarf and wellies!!

One pair of trousers that aren’t letting me down at the moment though are the Baukjen Mallory Cigarette Trousers. Cropped at the ankle, so perfect for slightly warmer days but weighty enough that they still work if I need to add a chunky jumper. They get me out of my comfort zone too which is jeans when I’m not working. Smart enough for an office with court shoes or ballet flats but also I can wear white trainers and a T-shirt and it’s a very casual look. Cost per wear then works out very much in your favour!

I have teamed the trousers with a coral top by Marble which as you probably know is a key colour this year as it’s the Pantone Colour of the year. I have then gone for a great pair of strappy heels from Bronx, to give it a party feel. I’m not going to lie to you though, these are what I call ‘taxi shoes’ you are not going to want to walk far in these but who cares when they are this pretty!!

What I’m using – Beauty Pick of the Month: Ultrasun Anti Pigmentation Tinted Face SPF 50+

I’ve recently noticed a blotch of pigment has been really starting to show on my right cheek bone and it’s starting to bother me just a little. I know it’s not that big a deal bit still I’m noticing it more and more every day. So it couldn’t have come at a better time that we have been asked to try the Ultrasun SPF 50+ tinted Anti Pigmentation formula. I have to admit I have been a little ‘laissez-faire’ when it comes to pigmentation and now I am realising I have been a little foolish.

I always wear an SPF and in recent years have definitely upgraded to 50+ in the summer or SPF 30 at the minimum. What is extra good about this formula is that it is also tinted. I don’t tend to wear much make-up when I’m off to the beach as it seems a little over the top but I still like my skin to look good so a little extra help from the ‘Tinted Honey’ makes me feel a little less self conscious.

Ultrasun is a given in my beauty routine anyway so it isn’t a major change for me but I definitely need to make anti pigmentation a new constant! This formulation is brand new and is their most advanced formula yet. This is not only going to help prevent pigmentation from getting worse but it’s going to help get rid of the mark I already have so this is going on my face EVERY DAY!! It’s one colour to suit all, it will blend in beautifully to all skin tones. This is UVA and UVB protection which is a superior sun protection from most moisturisers/CC creams that just protect from burning so this also prevents the sun damage that ages the skin too. The offer is here for the month so it’s a great time to stock up!

What’s Coming Up – Skechers Cali Beaded Slider

We know summer is just around the corner when shoes like this are our Today’s Special Value!!! The Cali beaded slider from Skechers is is our offer this Saturday (but they’re available to buy on pre-sell right now!) and it’s the perfect addition to our wardrobes for the supposed coming heatwave. You can’t get a shoe that’s any quicker to put on than this one so it’s minimum fuss, it’s also super lightweight. We have it in Black, Pink, Pewter, Grey and White and the they all have this rather fabulous beaded detail across the front. As many of you may know Skechers sizes often come up big, it’s to do with the size conversion from the states, so for these we recommend that for full sizes you go down one full size and if you’re a half size go down to the next full size. Which colour will you go for? At this price I may be tempted for more than one colour particularly as sliders are a big look for this summer!!

That’s it from me this week, sorry I haven’t done a recipe but I’m sure you can understand I was a bit fooded-out this month haha!

Lots of love Katy xx

PS. Make sure to keep up with me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to see what else I’m getting up to.

Hi Janet, not Portadown specifically but my mum is from N.Ireland (from Holywood) and I was born over there. My husband is also from NI. When I saw that crate at a vintage fair over here I snapped it up for the NI connection. It’s from an old Jam Factory. X
