More Friends Than Guests

0

It’s been a very busy working week for me at QVC but I didn’t mind at all as I have caught up with some wonderful guests who quite honestly I think of as friends. On Sunday I had a good long chat with Simon Wilson before our 2 hour Butler & Wilson show – his Christmas brooches this year are even cuter than usual, particularly the one above.

Yesterday, I had a quick catch-up with Antthony, although sadly I wasn’t working with him on this visit, and earlier in the week I spent a bit of time with Keeley from Elemis. She can read me like a book and knew I had something exciting going on in my life away from QVC. I had to tell her (and swear her to secrecy) but unfortunately I can’t share it with you guys yet – maybe next week or the week after, when everything is confirmed.

Speaking of Elemis, on Tuesday I had a Spa Day with my daughter, Sophie – our first one ever. She has been working for Abi Cleeve, of Ultrasun and Skinsense fame, for the past eighteen months, but has found herself a new job back in the heart of London, her preferred location. To be honest, it baffles me – I can’t think of anything worse than the daily train commute in packed railway carriages, but each to their own.

We had a lovely day together, just the two of us. We each had an Elemis facial (I think my therapist was getting a bit fed up with me constantly asking or guessing what products she was using) and I made full use of the generously-sized pool at the Frimley Hall Hotel spa while Sophie was reading my latest manuscript. I think I’ve mentioned before that this book is more of a crime/domestic thriller and as I swam towards her at the end of each second length she was trying to guess ‘who had committed the deed.’ My lips, of course, were sealed. I swam 25 lengths before our facial and another 25 after our cream tea and glass of prosecco – hopefully I burned all the calories off!

I mentioned on air yesterday during the Shay & Blue show that the bathroom fitters were back working on the downstairs loo/shower room, which the tiler finished tiling late on Tuesday evening. I was hoping to have a basin to showcase my Shay & Blue hand wash and hand lotion and voila, here it is. There are still a few minor things to finish, so I’ll hold off on the proper photos until next week, but it is so nice to have a downstairs loo again.

If you missed the Shay & Blue TSV, there is also a hand wash in the Liz Earle TSV on Sunday. I’m really disappointed not to be working with Caroline, another of my friends that I have met through QVC, but I know you will love the offer – in fact you already are, judging by the number of people who have ordered on pre-sell. There are two options to choose from: Uplifting or Calming.

Uplifting option

Calming option

The Uplifting option features the original Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash and Hand Wash, while the Calming option features Lavender & Basil (the body wash is brand new in this option). I think I will have to go for the Calming one with my hectic lifestyle! Do check out the whole collection here – it’s a fab price and on maximum Easy Payments.

Thanks for all your comments on last week’s blog about what colour dining chairs I should go for – I’ll reply to your comments when I get a moment! It’s going to have to be grey or white, as I have just ordered the glass splashback for behind the cooker in a magenta/purple colour which would clash with red… although I could get purple!

Have a great weekend whatever you have planned and I can’t finish without congratulations to two of by colleagues/friends on the presenter team.

Well done to Ali Young for the award she received from Woman & Home this week, highlighting successful women over fifty, and also to Ali Keenan whose book, A New Kind of Normal is available to pre-order – check her twitter for more details.

Much love,
Julia xx
