So we had a mini heat wave in February! Let me say that again – we had a mini heat wave in February! I mean this was an absolute shock for all of us right?! There were people walking down the street in actual shorts, T-shirts and flip-flops – in February!! It was the most extraordinary occurrence but you know what, it really lifted everyone’s mood and got me thinking if weather has the power to do this what else does?
I’m a pretty positive happy person anyway but I’ve noticed there’s a few clear stand-out things that really pick me up when things get on top of me.
Sunshine is the obvious one; the glimpse of the clear blue skies from even just a window has the power to change our outlook, it almost instantly gives us positivity, energy and a smile even on the worst of days. The sun increases serotonin levels (the happy chemical) in our body and encourages us to produce more vitamin D, which every single cell in our body adores. Like flowers, we tend to thrive in the sun and quite frankly I find sunny days are a very important part of our happiness.
Flowers themselves make us smile, maybe it’s because they are a sign that spring or summer is in the air, so it equates back to sunshine being abundant and has the same effect as mentioned above. Every time we lean in to smell a flower we often close our eyes and smile – it definitely enhances our mood. Here at QVCUK we can enjoy flowers year-round and even the fragrance, with our Peony range of faux flowers and room fragrance – the only faux flower company with the Royal Horticultural Society stamp of approval to endorse that the flowers are botanically correct.
I’m loving my indoor greenery at the moment, if you do too have a peek at this Peony Palm Foliage in Ceramic Pot.
Fragrance definitely works for me and again perhaps ties into the flower theme above. A quick spritz of something fabulous pops a spring back in your step! Whilst we all probably have a signature fragrance, I’m still a big fan of changing your scent with the occasion. Some of my favourite fragrances are available on QVCUK, such as the must-have Number 15 Botanical Essence from Liz Earle – that warm, smooth, spicy delight containing 15 of the worlds finest botanicals. A light dusting of this is enough to make you skip down the street (also available on three interest-free instalments at the moment).
Start the day the right way: one of my favourite mantras! Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude, followed by a happy shower! Pick your favourite, freshest, happiest and most upbeat bath or shower product, cake it on in the shower and lather-up whilst belting out the chorus from your recent favourite song!
For me at the moment it’s Molton Brown’s Invigorating Suma Ginseng Body Wash, from the Fresh selection of the upcoming 5-piece Luxurious Gift Collection Today’s Special Value on the 9th of March.
This is accompanied with my own out-of-tune version of Calvin Harris’ ‘Giant’. How powerful are these words…
“I am the Giant, stand on my shoulders tell me what you see, cause I am the giant, we’ll be breaking boulders underneath our feet!”
Then when I get out of the shower I am ready to make the most of this one, wild and precious life!
And here’s a photo of Ted to enhance your mood…
