OK, so we’ve said this before but spring is REALLY here now – or is it? It certainly didn’t feel like it when hubby and I had a few days in Scotland at the end of April, but the cold and rain didn’t really bother us – it’s just such a beautiful place and I always say there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes! We flew to Edinburgh, had a night catching up with friends there and then hired a car and off we went.
We started with a night in the Cairngorms National Park and then went on to the north west Highlands and the lovely village of Plockton – what stunning views we had from our room, right on the waterfront! Hubby got arty with his iPhone and took a picture of me reading on the window seat – look at the scenery behind me! We went on a seal watching trip while we were there, which was wonderful. Then we briefly visited the Isle of Skye, explored the beautiful Eilean Donan castle, and managed to feed some Highland cows (those faces! I’m in love) before heading on to Loch Ness.
We visited another castle nearby – Urquhart – which was incredibly interesting, but the loch was the real draw for me. I’ve always wanted to go on a Nessie boat trip, and it was great fun, and we also visited the Loch Ness monster exhibition which was absolutely fascinating, taking you through the history of all the theories, sightings (and scams!) associated with the legend. I’m a believer – or, more accurately, I really want to be – I desperately want it to be true! All in all it was a great trip, with some of the most spectacular scenery I’ve seen in the UK – you’re very lucky if you live in the Highlands. We don’t really do summer holidays so that’s it on the trip front for a while now.
When I came back to work I was rather delighted to find a couple of packages in my dressing room containing goodies for me to try out. Both are upcoming Today’s Special Value offers, one from Liz Earle and the other from Gtech. The brilliant Gtech MK2 handheld vacuum will be on air on Tuesday 15th – it’s really good! You get a full 20 minutes run-time from a full charge and it’s very compact and light and great for those quick jobs – spills in the kitchen, vacuuming the car, doing the stairs.
It also comes with a powered brush head, a crevice tool and a dusting brush so it’s very versatile. My presenter colleague Charlie also got one to try so we both made little videos to show how useful this is around the home – have a look at his blog to see his, and here’s mine!

The Liz Earle offer is all about supercharging our skincare. The four-piece Supercharged Skincare Collection includes, very excitingly, a NEW larger 75ml size of the Superskin Moisturiser in natural neroli, launching here with us at QVC in this size, plus the Superskin Eye Cream, hero product Cleanse and Polish Cleanser in the supersize with two cloths, and an Instant Boost Skin Tonic.
If your skin is suffering from the effects of what seems like the longest winter ever, this could be the answer – these products just give you such wonderful, radiant glowing skin. They come in a lovely gift box too, so would make a great present. This will be on air on Sunday 20th but a little bird tells me you may be able to order it early, from the 16th, so look out for that!
That’s it for now – I always love to hear from you so do leave a message under this blog, or follow me on Twitter (@jackiekabler) or Instagram (@officialjackiekabler).
