Hello and happy new season! It appears that as the intense heat of the summer subsided and the leaves start to turn amber that nature is telling summer to move over as autumn is ready to make an entrance.
I do love this time of year because the days can still be warm and the afternoons have a wonderful golden hue, plus when the parks and gardens change colour it can be a great sight to witness. In fact years ago when I worked with horses I used to love getting up at 5.30am – yes you read that correctly, 5.30am! And the reason was this, the countryside would be full of bird sound and no traffic and because it was fresh and sometimes quite nippy you could see the leaves covered in a light frost which looked quite magical. We would often take the race horses down to the beach near where I worked in Waterford in Southern Ireland for an early morning gallop as it would be completely deserted.
My London life is so different now and is much more TV based which I absolutely love too. My work at QVC allows me to play with fashion and style a lot which has always been a huge interest of mine. My mother used to say I was a very determined little girl with a somewhat eclectic taste in fashion. At only four years old I was often choosing odd little outfits to go to school in. So not much has changed really!
Here’s a Christmas photo I thought I’d share with you. I must have been not much more than six years old here.
Moving on a few decades, shall we say… here is a photo of my new favourite boots from Peter Kaiser. Oh my word they are gorgeous. If you love suede and you love knee-high boots then TA DA, these are for you. (I’m wearing the Grey option but they’re available in a range of colours including this gorgeous Wine).
But if knee highs aren’t your thing, fret not because we have these ankle boots from Clarks. These boots are great if you want to get autumn-ready, plus they are comfortable! Try experimenting with skirts and dresses. I think ankle boots with MarlaWynne’s dresses look great. Especially if you go with a big knitted jumper on top. Personally I love this look and she has some stunning pieces of knitwear out at the moment.
This time of year, and especially this year, we are seeing lots of shades of brown and yellow which go beautifully together. Mixing lime green with browns and blues looks great too. If you love grey then you’re in luck, as the grey tones are here to stay and also are a wonderful match with the blush and romantic rose hues that we have seen so much of throughout the year.
This shade of citrine is so refreshing and teamed with black looks sharp and energetic. You could easily wear with a long white shirt underneath for an equally smart look. I love the blue as it’s warm in colour and looks very chic. Think of jeans, your new Clarks ankle boots and this. That would be a great look.
If we turn our attention to this season change and our skin then we may need to alter our skincare regime. If you check my Insta then you’ll see how my skin was not very happy last week. I suffer from rosacea and the temperature can be a cause along with a whole heap of other things. I therefore turn to listen to our fabulous beauty experts here. The next part has nothing to do with rosacea I just wanted to share that skin can be troublesome.
Caroline is our expert for Liz Earle – a multi award-winning beauty brand here with us at QVC – and not only could you not meet a lovelier woman but she knows her skincare. We are very lucky to be running a Liz Earle Big Deal, please have a click on the link to hear Caroline in action talking us through this fabulous kit.
Let me know how you get on. Keep your questions and comments coming in. I love to hear from you. I’m not using my Facebook too much so please accept my apologies if you have left me messages there. Best contact me through my Twitter and Instagram.
Have a great week!
