It was smashing to be away surrounded by like-minded writers once more and escape the stress of the never-ending house move! Well, it does end, actually – this Saturday, after which I’ll be in the new (bijoux) place – even if some of my furniture won’t…Lol! Still, the place is shaping up! As is the table top sale – you’ll never guess what one of the mega prizes will be…
Wales writing inspiration
Another month another writing retreat … well, I do this instead of holidays mostly with the intention of finally adding to my three steamy novels and one pastiche novel, two short stories and anthologies currently published on Amazon. The new novel (as regulars will know), is called ‘French or Dutch’ and will be a cross between ‘Call the Midwife’ and ‘Mr Selfridge’!
The view from the window in the library where we all met each night was lovely. We workshopped sub-plots and structure, arcs and emotions. Well I ducked out of some of the stuff I’ve done before to go write – recreating my post-it-plan on the wall of the bedroom I was staying in! Will have to transfer it to my new writing room in the new house as of this coming weekend!
One of the most skilled writers on the retreat was Beverley Ward who has a new children’s book published next week – go here to her blog ‘Archie Nolan, Family Detective’ to find out more go here . Of course the talented Julie Cohen whom regulars of this blog will know all about, was joined for this retreat by her pal Rowan Coleman. Rowan’s many and varied novels have also been nominated for awards and best sellers, and have been included in Richard and Judy’s Book club!
Go see RiWiSi for more, on my website where I’ll also feature news of how best-selling author Katie Fforde feels about writing novels and what made her freak out in her local town when her first book was published! A great week. More on my website Read it Write it Sell it Blog – click here.
Ps don’t forget my steamy novel ‘Take a Chance on Me’ is only 99p for another week – go here to get it. AND – ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0’ purple eBook for Kindle/app will be free on Aug 8th! Click here for info.
WATCH ‘The Nothing Box’ – men’s and women’s brains. This is funny. We were talking about characters and driving forces and Carole one of the relative newcomers to novel-writing, a brilliant mathematician, suggested we google this clip. It’s rather funny – if you have a man who can’t do more than one thing at once, watch this!

Benedict is Hamlet My make-up artist/hair stylist expert niece Beki tells us seats are going fast for her next job – ‘Hamlet’ with Benedict Cumberbatch, at the Barbican for 12 weeks only around October! Worth a look? Would love to see him in the flesh – I adored his Oscar nominated film ‘The Imitation Game’ on the big screen! More here
Pog Next Door Just look at this little poggy! (Puppy/dog=pog) She’s called Maggie and she’s the new puppy next door at my new house – only ten weeks old! Noooo I mustn’t get another one! Lol – but daughter is. Watch this space…

““Pal and I have been partnered for 3 years now and how different those years have been. Pal came into my life when things were going down hill fast.I have been a type 1 diabetic for 40 years and my hypo awareness was gradually disappearing, my husband and children were coming home to find me unconscious on almost a daily basis, this was having dire consequences on us all. At the same time I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure, this ended up with me suffering with ptsd, things were pretty grim.
Pal was introduced to me via an amazing charity called medical detection dogs. Pal was trained to pick up on my blood sugar levels falling and rising and to alert me to test and take appropriate action.
He is my life saver and life changer, we have come so far together. He is by my side where ever we go, what ever we do he saves my life on a daily basis. He is loyal, funny, smart endearing and most importantly my friend for life.
Pal and I were lucky enough to be Crufts Friends for Life finalists this year, we were nominated by my sons, who opened their hearts to the world about how difficult things had been and how Pal has given us back our lives. We owe Pal and Medical Detection Dogs so much.
We are so pleased to represent such an amazing charity
Ps thank you for the help Debbie xx”
Doesn’t it make you feel grateful for your own life if nothing serious is actually wrong? For me it’s a start reminder. ‘I feel a bit tired today and stressed out by my house move….’ Oh, well nothing’s truly wrong then, is it, Deborah!
Vax Today’s Special Value on Saturday 25th
I’m away so not able to be on-air with tomorrow’s (25th July) Today’s Special Value Vax dual power pet carpet washer (804437) but Jill is launching it and asked me to give it a thorough test run for her since I was moving home! Happy to do that! I must admit I’m a big fan of Vax and have had some superb results previously. The machine is easy to fill, affordable (way below £100 this time) and will bring your run of the mill dirty carpets up fresh and clean. So worth getting – watch this Saturday inc with Catherine at 10pm.
Well done to Bruce for reaching 2,000 members on the fastest growing group on Facebook of all my groups – dedicated to giving support to anyone wanting to change their shape with the most powerfully effective device I know. Go here to get yours on QVC before yet more stock runs out! He’s due back on in December. Here’s one person’s recent comments about it on qvcuk.com, item (432954).
“Can’t live without my bodyblade, it has changed the look of my arms and core in such a short space of time. It is easy to use, enjoyable and gives quick results. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to define and shape their arms and core area. “
Shhh! Just found out I’m down for the end August Today’s Special Value launch of my lovely mate, fashionista from LA Antthony – he’s been going through an ‘angel’ phase on air in the US lately – funny!

New Bond film, Spectre, is going to be amazing judging from first trailer! I’m a fan – a big fan – of Daniel Craig. Even if he didn’t wait for me and Rachel Weisz got in there first. Still, am looking forward to the next Bond outing, 26th October, are you? It looks AMAAAZING! I think this is one to see in IMAX! More here.
