Making the most of the outdoors

3

I love May for so many reasons, it’s the month where everything changes – it really fills me with happiness! All the new born animals are out and about for the first time, when I walk to the Thames River there’s little ducklings swimming around in a row behind their mummy, when I drive by fields there are leaping lambs in abundance – the British countryside in May truly is a joy.

It’s the time that I get outside as much as possible, I’ll alfresco anything – alfresco coffee, alfresco breakfast, alfresco dinner, alfresco blog writing, I just love it. If it’s chilly I’ll take some cushions and a throw outside, just as long as it’s not raining. Also after the big BBQ deep clean I did last week in full overalls and a mask, I’m now standing at six in seven of the last nights having all been BBQ’s.

Don’t think you can’t vary a BBQ – I’ve gone marinade crazy, I’m ‘Miss Marinade’. Recently, I’ve done medium rare lamb steaks in garlic, anchovy and mint served on a bed of lambs leaf lettuce and radishes with a chimichurri salsa. I’ve also done fish options marinaded in lemongrass, ginger and honey, and some plain old burgers and sausages – but served with a homemade bang bang chilli sauce, I just love it!

Since I’m hanging around outside at all hours I’ve made the space more of a loungey style and invested in some BundleBerry by Amanda Holden furniture and Habitat cushions and throws, as you can see Ted is a fan.

There’s Habitat bits throughout my house, they’re stylish yet simple and really work with my eclectic house – and just a quick side note the Stone Washed Bed Sheets are divine! I’m hoping now to get some sort of day bed outside too, so who knows if I’ll ever go inside again this summer! I’ve even had garden discos recently, although I’m not sure how much the neighbours approved, Ted loves being outside too!

Plenty happening beauty-wise at QVC: here are some key bits to look out for.

In make-up, there’s a chance to replenish virtually all your key make-up bag essentials. Look out for the Six Piece Perfect Glow Collection from Mally, it’s a Today’s Special Value (TSV) soon on Friday the 31st of May.

It’s a great collection overall but I have to say I’ve fallen in love with the new Perfect Prep Glowing Primer and Starfruit Energizing Brightening Concealer that comes with it! The primer has this radiant iridescent look that it leaves on the skin, so it’s not flat or dull, and the concealer is hydrating and has its own application sponge so it goes on flawlessly.

I really think the key with make-up and skin over the summer is less is more. I’m loving faux tans at the moment too, especially for the face because it means less foundation. Try James Read or Tan Luxe, I love the overnight face products in both ranges. Check them out on our website, plus we even have new brand Isle of Paradise which I’m desperate to try!

Remember if you are sunbathing or exposed to the sun for long periods of time get into UltraSun, it’s by far the best sun cream I’ve ever used and they perform to maximum filter standards not just European Standards.

Enjoy this great weather and try to get outdoors as much as possible, even if it’s just in the garden!

Best,

Chloe

Hi. This question as nothing to do with the blog but I must ask where the pair of washed black jeans you’re wearing on the fashion by together show at 2 on the 6th of June, with white glove shoes is from? I’m watching the show now and your legs look stunning! I struggle to find a good pair of jeans, especially in the slightly washed black and would really appreciate your response. Please do reply as you really will be helping me out. Thank you! X

    Hi Chloe,
I have just read your Sri Lanka blog. I really don’t know what to say. Thank goodness you are both ok. It doesn’t bear thinking about. It’s just so terrible that there is so much hostility worldwide still. Even in this country with knife crime and Brexit etc etc. I wish people wouldn’t post all their opinions ok social media as it just adds more divisiveness. Anyway thank goodness you’re safe.
    Love susan x
