April is my birthday month and I always like to do a little giveaway to mark turning a year older – that’s coming up at the end of this blog! And gosh, what a busy April it’s been. Since my last blog my new book, Am I Guilty? has come out on Kindle in both the UK and the USA so I’ve been celebrating that.
I also ran a marathon last week, on a lovely route along the Thames, so that’s another 26.2 miles off the 1,000 I’m running this year to raise funds for Headway UK; just over 360 miles run in total so far which puts me a little ahead of target! A marathon is never going to be easy but it wasn’t horrendous, and I’m absolutely loving the challenge. I’ve signed up for five half marathons next, TWO of them this coming Bank Holiday weekend, which I may regret – help!
Decorating continues at home. It’s been years since I’ve chosen wallpaper and I was amazed at the fantastic selection out there now! I found this fabulously realistic grey brick wallpaper which looks amazing on a wall of the lounge – it gives it a sort of industrial, warehouse feel which I love and which ties in really well with some exposed brickwork in the kitchen. And for my new home office I found this great “fashion library” wallpaper, which looks great with my sparkly smiley skull ornament and monochrome vase. I’m thoroughly enjoying making this new house a home!
We inherited an excellent washing machine from the former owners of our house when we moved, and I’ve been trying out an alternative to washing powder; the Ecoballs 1000 from Ecozone. There’s a plastic ball that you fill with the pellets provided and just pop into the drum of your machine with your clothes. The pellets are made from mineral and plant-based cleaning agents and although I was a little sceptical that they’d get my clothes as clean as my usual detergent I was really impressed!
Clean clothes, no residue and a lovely light fragrance. I tried the Pure Linen but there’s also a Blossom scent and fragrance-free option, and all are hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. The 1000 refers to the fact that you can get up to 1000 washes from one ball – amazing, imagine how much money that will save! You’ll find this as the Big Deal on QVC Extra all week this week, or while stocks last.
THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW ENDED.
Right, giveaway time! I’ve put together a little “pamper hamper” for one lucky winner (pictured below – flowers not included!). It includes two Yankee Candles in Rhubarb Crumble and Coconut Splash scents, a Margaret Dabbs foot soak, two Molton Brown treats, Philip Kingsley‘s Elasticizer and a Merchant of Venice Eau de Parfum.
The collection is worth over £206 and to enter all you have to do is answer the following question:
Q. What sort of race did I run along the Thames last week?
A. A half marathon
B. A marathon
