Well all the decorations are now down and packed away until next year and the last of the shortbread and mince pies eaten (mostly by me). Personally I think we should start selling a stretchable tape measure after all the Christmas goodies!! Christmas is well and truly over!!
So how was it for you then?
Many of us feel a little down this time of year. The house looks a tad bare without all the festive sparkle; perhaps friends and family have gone home and we don’t get to see them that much, and the weather is a little dreary too. But…….what are you looking forward to in 2015? I always feel having something to aim for or look forward to (whether in January or any other time of the year) is so important. It’s what gives a sense of hope and excitement!
It doesn’t always have to be something big either. It’s not always about going on big holidays etc. It can be as simple as making sure you’re more in touch with loved ones, learning a new skill, or in my case, attempting to rid myself of all the Christmas excess!!
As I write this, I cast my mind back to exactly this date and time last year. In approximately 15 minutes – it’s currently the 11th January at 7.45am – I was about to go into theatre for my shoulder surgery. Now I have been limited this year in terms of exercise, but my jaw has had a wee bit too much (and I’m not talking about being on QVC either)!!!! Hence my weight has shot up.
Well enough!! I’m probably in the company of millions who have decided to lose weight and get fitter and trimmer at this time of year, but I am determined!!! And I’ve just gone public (with you lovely people that is), so hopefully that’ll help keep me on track.
Sunday 11th January, it all begins. Now you may well be asking why not the 1st like everyone else? Well my youngest boy’s birthday was on New Year’s Day and then the eldest had his on the 6th. Mindset is so important to me, so now that the house is all straight again, the celebrations over, all the biscuits, chocolates and birthday cake are “disposed” of, it’s time to start! I have a fridge full of green veg and tons of fresh fruit. Let the battle begin!!!!
I have to say my dressing room buddy Catherine Huntley is currently a bit of an inspiration too. She has lost 3 stone and is looking fab!! I’d like to lose just over 2 stone (doesn’t sound much when you say it fast!!). So for all you guys and gals out there looking to embark on similar journey, let’s encourage each other!
Well that’s my main goal for 2015. I’m also looking forward to getting back out to Italy in the summer, and most definitely getting to see a bit more of Louise’s (my niece) little girl Sophie, who as you can see from a couple of the pics, is just adorable (sorry, being slightly biased again!!)
I like to study too, (when I have the time) and have lined up a few courses for myself which I’m also looking forward to.
So that’s it for me! What about you? What are you looking forward to this coming year?
And you know what? If you can’t think of too much, don’t worry………..in a couple of weeks, I’m going to do another competition to chase away the January blues, so stay tuned for that one!!!
Incidentally, well done to Carole Cambridge from Lancashire who won my very special Christmas Elemis competition!! Hope you’re truly indulging Carole!!
I do apologise for not writing this blog sooner but circumstances, along with the fact that I took off on my kitchen floor following de-icing my car, had me laid up slightly just before Christmas.
Hey, maybe that should be one of my New Year resolutions too!! No more charging around at 100mph. And no more damaging the kitchen radiator cover in the process (I totally broke it. It did not break my fall, I assure you!!) I just don’t seem to be able to “bounce” like I did in my younger days!!!! Even with my extra padding!! Good job I was wearing my nicely padded Centigrade coat, or it could’ve been worse. I may have demolished the house!!!!!!!
Anyway, joy, peace and good health I wish to all of you for the coming year!!
Big hugs all round and I’ll keep you posted regarding my progress!!
