Hello and welcome to another wonderful month! The year seems to be going so quickly and I’m super busy with travel and plants, my two favourite things, so it can’t be bad!
We are fresh from the launch of a brand new show last night too, as we premiered the Alfresco Living show. It’s a new style for the gardening sector at QVC and we’re hoping it has a really different feel to it. I must admit, I really enjoyed the sitting down part, sometimes an hour (or more) on your feet can be a challenge!
Charlie and I presented the show and we showed lots of super cool new outdoor furniture and decorative pieces. We even had fresh fruit and Prosecco on set… I must admit I had a few glugs of the drink – you might’ve spotted that on-air actually…
Our alfresco styling also brings me onto a new trend that I actually made up during a live show, and that is ‘glamscaping’! That’s the practice of adding personality pieces to your outdoor piece to make it your own – the same way that you would inside your home. With glamscaping, you can choose from many different styles, from urban jungle through to whimsical – shop them here on the website.
Whether the weather is warm enough or not, we are intending to spend more time outdoors. As the intrinsic link between wellbeing and nature is becoming more and more recognised, we want to spend time with our plants! If that means wearing just an anorak or coat, then we are happy to do that. It’s not always about soaking up the sun outdoors, you know!
I think this has all been made possible by the fact that garden furniture and decorative items are becoming much more weatherproof, so you won’t have to rush out after a downpour of rain and rescue items. They can stay out mostly all year round… we even have outdoor rugs, it’s amazing!
When considering the planting for your alfresco theme, you might want to think about creating garden rooms and using screening. This can help to give privacy, also create that real feeling of an outdoor living room.
I really hope I can inspire you with this new trend. It was one of my favourites from the new selection! And you can rest assured I will be spending as much time outdoors this summer as I can! See you there!
