Hello and thank you for reading my blog.
How is your ‘summer’ going? The reason I say ‘summer’ is the weather has been rather hit and miss hasn’t it?! At least for the moment we still have the longer days and milder temperatures, which is something I’m holding onto before we lurch back into autumn and winter!
I was in Wales last week with my family for a few days, and it was wonderful to spend some quality time with my mum, sister, brother-in-law and nieces.
I actually posted an IGTV (Instagram video) the day after I got back offering my thoughts and reflections, because despite the Airbnb that we stayed in being rather run-down, the bad traffic on the way there and the poor weather – the most important thing was that we had a wonderful time together.
My two younger nieces are two and six, and they are growing up so quickly that every moment is precious with them. You can watch the video here.
As you can see in the photos we had great fun together, and in the short respite from grey skies and rain, we made it to the beach twice where with the little ones loved building sand castles and running around, as us grown-ups happily enjoyed the sun breaking through the clouds.
You can also see that both girls are wearing their Sunseez, a recent purchase from QVC after the guest from the brand was saying how important it is to protect children’s eyes properly.
In one picture with Ruby you can she has her Sunseez and I am wearing my JPE Fitovers – so comfortable and protective that I use them even when I’m not wearing my reading glasses underneath.
I also went to the opening night of the outdoor film festival at Somerset house recently to watch the blockbuster movie Black Panther. It was an amazing evening where we feasted on a picnic and snuggled down on Cozee Home throws and cushions I had taken along.
Luckily I had also packed my Incredibrella which was a wise move, as twice during the film the heavens opened! It was a wonderful evening that just goes to show come rain or shine in the UK we are adept at al fresco fun.
I did a wonderful yoga class with one of my favourite yoga teachers, Connie. Her and another yoga teacher Emily have set up the ‘Yeh Yoga Company’, where they take Yoga to offices and corporations.
In this early morning Friday yoga class we practised on the rooftop of ‘Savage Garden’, a skyline bar in the City of London. The bar actually has a roof that opens so we were able to do our sun salutations to the open sky whilst enjoying a view of the City of London.
After the yoga the girls laid on a vegan breakfast and we all chatted before heading off to begin our working days. A great class that set me up brilliantly for my weekend of gardening at QVC.
Talking of gardening at QVC, I hope you can join me over the bank holiday weekend where I’ll be bringing you gardening on Friday, Saturday and bank holiday Monday. Some of the shows will be featuring Michael Perry and others will be myself with our usual lineup of gardening guests.
Then after the weekend on Tuesday 27th August, I have a late-night DIY show at 11 pm and a 10pm hour with the Queen of feet and hands, Margaret Dabbs. I am a huge an of her range and use her products pretty much every day. My particular favourites are the Hydrating Foot Lotion and Foot Hygiene Cream. If my feet need a real treat I will use also add the Foot Oil and Cuticle Serum into the routine too – feels like you’re walking on air!
Finally, with all this talk of holidays and beaches here’s a little picture I took recently just outside QVC in Chiswick Park. The park has installed a temporary man-made beach by the lake, and on the way into work I couldn’t resist pouncing into a vacant deckchair and enjoying 20 minutes in the midday sun – pure joy!
What’s been the highlight of your summer so far?
See you on QVC TV soon, and be sure to follow me on Instagram to get updates in between the blogs.
Big hug as always,
