Hope you’re all well and still enjoying summer. My heart goes out to all of you younger parents (and grandparents) wondering how to fill the next 6 weeks or so in amusing and entertaining the children during their school holidays!! (Been there, done that…not easy!!) The theme of this blog is all about “extremities”. So to highlight a few:
Now that was a bit strange going from temperatures in the mid 30’s in the south east down to late teens/early 20’s and bucketing down for a few days. I have to say, all very pleasant and welcome really, particularly in the garden!
But now we are indeed climbing our way back up there and by this weekend… back where we started I believe. I don’t think we do well in this country with extreme weather… we struggle in the summer with the heat as most of our homes are geared up for the colder weather. But not too cold mind you… remember the “Beast from the East”?! No, we Brits cope “extremely” well with a kind of mild, damp October type climate!! That we can handle!!
Now a big thank you to all of you who have complimented me on my new hairstyle. This was not at all planned, and in fact took place behind the scenes here at QVC with lovely Maria, our TSV guest from last Monday. She had brought with her a hairstyling tool which was really popular. As she was styling my hair I commented on how lovely her hair was and she responded by telling me that she thought her style would suit me too.
I wasn’t sure but then thought how fun it would be to go on the morning show with it long and then get it cut and appear on the lunchtime show with a short, whole new look. So after much encouragement by all and sundry (including Jackie Kabler) I decided to go for it.
Check out my before and after photo (there was a huge pile of my locks on the floor for me to look at in shock horror before I saw the final result!) But I have to say I am happy with it. The whole “change is as good as a rest” thing really resonates right now… and it’s a lot cooler in these soaring temperatures!!
Now why should that qualify as an extremity? Well my last two blogs have focused and been dedicated to only one brand each time (Peony and Skechers). But this week, well I have to cram so much in as there is lots going on at QVC this weekend, and I love lots of it too!! So let’s get started. What have we got for you… well Thursday midnight will see the launch of the Great QVC Summer Sale and we’re kick-starting with a TSV boot from the Skechers range (I know…..bad pun!!).
Now if you are any doubt that I’m a fan, checkout my last blog where the evidence is there for all to see… my 22 pairs of Skechers addiction!! These On the Go City 2 boots are made for more than walking though… they are sooooooo comfy (due to the new Goga Mat insole and the improved arch support) very cosy too and with a great choice of colours to choose from.
You can wear the fold down cuff either up or down to show off the faux fur lining… and all at a fab price as you would expect. So please join Vonda and myself at midnight to “see what all the fuss is about” (again please see previous blog for any needed clarification).
Friday midnight I will be launching the LAB Platinum Pro Whitening System with Whitening Pen. Many of you have loved this as it’s such a cost effective, and importantly, a fuss-free way to brighten your smile. These sisters are absolutely lovely and it’s amazing to hear about their Oxford Uni background and how they have developed a range of tools which allows us to reap the benefits of what modern day technology has to offer us in our beauty routine.
Saturday midnight sees the launch of a fabulous kit from the ever popular Laura Geller range. Now this is indeed a first. Lovely Laura has recently developed THE most amazing liquid foundation!! Now I’m not the biggest fan of liquid foundations as many of you will know, but I have to say I’m so impressed with this one. What a beautiful texture and coverage!! You just end up with this stunning dewy glow! Of course there’s more besides the foundation to be had… so please tune in to find out!
Monday midnight and for many, a long-awaited Taya TSV. If you want beautiful, manageable locks (although I now have less locks to actually manage) then we have an amazing offer. This is all about the Inner Core range made from Brazilian black clay, renowned to cleanse and condition without adding weight and reducing breakage after just the first application… but the excitement is in a brand new serum that they’re launching.
Using some of the most precious clays to be found in the rainforest and transforming them into a 100% Natural Oil blend, your hair (and your body) will love the results (so will your purse – there are savings of over £30 to be had!!) There are other highlights on Monday, Orla Kiely Accessories at 8pm. I’ve included a photo of one of my favourite bags for you. I’ve also included a photo of a stunning plant pot and candle that was a recent birthday gift from my son Matthew and his lovely wife Rebecca. Not from QVC (yet) but again showing that I am indeed a true fan.
And finally at 9pm on Monday I get to bring you not only a fab range for many of you in make-up, but a great story and philosophy behind the brand too. Beauty Bakerie with the lovely Cashmere. I first watched this brand with Pipa and it didn’t take long before I was sampling their delights. We have some new and exciting pieces to tempt you with including the Cake Face Concealer, a beautiful face and body palette Scoops Elysees, and something that went viral after Cashmere tweeted on it, and that’s the Coffee & Cocoa Palette.
Well my goodness, I do have a busy few days ahead, and if you all don’t end up with at least the hint of a Glaswegian accent by the end of it, then my name is not “Dangerous Dawson”!! (No idea where that name came from… honest!!)
Take care and lots of love,
