Let’s make 2019 the best year yet


I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and everything went to plan! 2018 was a funny old year for me, lots happened, I entered a new decade of age (40) and there were tremendous ups and downs along the way. But this is the rollercoaster that is life and probably won’t be different to any other year though I guess.

It’s good to focus on the highlights though and perhaps my favourite day of the year was with all my friends on an eco sailing boat in Ibiza, it was magical. We sailed over to nearby island Formentera for a delicious paella lunch and sailed back at sunset, truly good times and laughter in abundance!

Looking forward to 2019, one thing that keeps getting mentioned by lots of people that I’ve spent time with over Christmas (and in fact throughout the year), is how we all want to make positive and healthy changes to our lifestyle and health – in search of the feel good factor.

I’ve been in the excuse brigade before and I’ve set goals and failed, but it’s time we all did everything we can to make a difference. It really doesn’t have to be calorie counting or carb cycling, but it does all start with that first step, whether it’s that first glass of water or taking that first supplement.

Something else which is proven to aid and motivate with lifestyle goals is owning and wearing a Fitbit. If you think they just count your steps then think again! The latest edition Fitbit Charge 3 is a Special Edition that comes with a choice of straps to fit all. Plus, it’s water-resistant which gives this version the edge if you’re a water baby or never want to take it off.

I know I’ve raved about Fitbits before but if you’re really determined then it’s a great way to set goals and keep on track. I must flag the Today’s Special Value offer we having coming up on Friday the 11th from Fitbit, because we’re going to sell not just the latest Fitbit, but also throw in a three-month coach voucher (a bit like having a personal trainer).

For anyone who’s never seen the presentations on QVCUK of Fitbit, they really are worth watching because these clever little devices do way more than expected. We can use them to measure our heart rate to check whether we’re in fat burning zones, keep abreast of nutrition and calorie intake, plus track our sleep which is vital for health and weight loss. They really do serve as your own personal motivation coach!

This latest version, the Fitbit Charge 3, also has a special Female Health Tracker on there, as well as contactless on-wrist payments with FitBit pay (a bit like Apple Pay) and all of this with a battery life of up to seven days. Anyone serious about weight-loss, a healthier lifestyle or just getting moving more should seriously consider the TSV on Friday.

On that note, let’s talk about what else we can do to help ourselves: supplements. I’m a big believer in the benefits of it. Every day I have a cocktail of tablets and liquids to bolster my nutrition, because as we get older we don’t absorb as many essential nutrients in the gut as when we were young nippers. I take a good quality multi-vitamin – I’ve just switched to Nature’s Way Alive Ultra, which have added daily greens, digestive enzymes and a beauty blend focused around supporting energy levels.

I think more than ever this year and now I’m 40 I really have to try and be the best me I can and take care of myself, that includes my mental health too. We must remember to be kind to ourselves and speak kindly to our self with words of encouragement, don’t beat ourselves up. It’s funny quite often we wouldn’t say these words to anyone else but we say them to ourselves.

    Hi Chloe, loved reading your blog, good luck on the fitness regime, sounds like you are on the right track already. I am determined to start (and end the year) fitter than last year ! Always enjoy your shows, keep up the good work and a very happy new year to you.
