Let the sunshine in!

My kidsI hope you are enjoying the summer and if you have young children are enjoying the break from those dreaded school runs…

I must admit we seem to go slightly nocturnal in my house when it’s the school holidays, and are often still in our PJs at noon! However, when we go on holiday I like to make the most of the sunshine – although I always choose a hotel that runs breakfast until at least 10.30!

That said, we had two wonderful weeks in the Algarve where I managed to make it down for breakfast every day. The hotel was lovely and the Portuguese weather was amazing. I love nothing more than lazing around in the sunshine with my family. My children are growing so fast and changing so much. My son, at 14, is now taller than me (and I’m not short by any means!) so it was great to take time out as a family and actually do very little but just relax and enjoy each other’s company.

I often think we must be quite boring on holiday as we just tend to eat, sleep, swim and play cards, but I love it and it always goes by too quickly. We actually did venture out in Portugal and went on an amazing sea adventure to see dolphins in the wild, which you wouldn’t expect in the Algarve but if you are ever there it is well worth doing. To see dolphins jumping and swimming around the boat and interacting with their young was breath-taking!

Anyway, it was soon back home and back to reality although we have been to the theatre to see Billy Elliot, which I would highly recommend as it made me laugh so much but also cry too (always the sign of a good show). It was just one of those shows that I just hadn’t ever got around to seeing but it’s definitely one of the best in the West End! We also have a ‘Glamping’ trip planned before the end of the summer (??!) but more on that next time!

Polti steam iron - Wednesday's TSV!Meanwhile back at QVC the new products keep rolling in and as you know I am always on the look out for household items to get jobs done quicker. I’ve never been particularly domestic and my pet hate is ironing, so I was so impressed with the Polti iron that I was asked to try this week.

I do think that – with all the mod cons around these days – a steam generator iron is a must and you really do save so much ironing time. The power of the steam on the Polti was so impressive and weirdly I loved the feel of the handle – it just made seem lighter and easier to use. I’ll be launching the Polti iron on Wednesday at midnight which means of course a sensational Today’s Special Value price! So what more could you ask? Professional looking ironing in less than half the time, brilliant!

Meanwhile, let’s hope we get another burst of summer sunshine, enjoy it while it lasts and see you Wednesday!

Jilly x

    Hi Jilly
You sound like you have a fabulous holiday and your 2 kids look gorgeous. Your little girl definitely takes after you another beauty in the making. Look forward to seeing you (and the Polti) on Wednesday. I like you and probably many others I loathe ironing so anything that makes it quick and easy can’t be bad.

    Hi Jilly,
Don’t you have 2 stunners! You’re little ones of course. Or maybe teenagers! What age is Cassidy now? They are gorgeous. I envy your hols! You get away at least a couple of times a year don’t you? Lovely tan Jilly. Oh and I agree about Billy Elliott. Though I still love the film!
