After a fairly dismal August, how nice it was to get a blast of summer again over the Bank Holiday weekend! Even better, I actually had some of it off work, which hardly ever happens. I worked the Friday and Saturday but had the Sunday and Monday off which was brilliant as it coincided with the best of the weather. On the Sunday we headed to the Suffolks area of Cheltenham for the annual street fair, which was lovely.
I picked up some gorgeous handmade silver and leather jewellery and then we stopped for a glass of bubbly in the sunshine, as lots of the local restaurants were serving their fare out in the street. Finally, we met up with friends for a late lunch. Definitely my kind of day off!
Bank Holiday Monday was definitely a garden day – super hot and sunny. We chilled out at home and had a barbecue, and I caught up on some reading. And I also had the joy of knowing I still had several more free days ahead of me, as my mum and nephew were arriving from Ireland for a few days on the Tuesday morning.
That evening we met up with my niece (who now lives in Cheltenham too) for dinner, and I just felt so proud of my young relatives. They are both really hardworking, ambitious and thoroughly nice 20-somethings – my siblings have done very well with their offspring!
Workwise, I’m very much looking forward to September because it means a new series of Ruth’s Fashion Edit with Ruth Langsford! I will be co-hosting the shows again and we kick off with a two-hour special from 8pm to 10pm on Thursday 7th. Of course Ruth is also starring in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing this year so hopefully she’ll teach me a few moves on the show! I hope you can join us for lots of fun and fashion chat over the next six weeks.
That’s it for now, see you soon!
