Keeping cosy and trying new products

4

A very warm hello to you all and thank you for stopping by my blog. I thought in this week’s post I’d share with you some of my new discoveries in skincare products and make-up, plus two helpers to keep you nice and cosy on those chilly evenings.

I’d like to start first of all though by welcoming our newest member of the presenting team, Kathryn Goldsmith. She is as warm in real life as you see her on screen and doing a great job on the Style channel, which has now gone live from 3pm – 7pm Monday to Friday!

I don’t know about you but I’ve started to put the heating on and I’m feeling the chills of an evening. But if I’m honest I don’t always need to have the heating on all the time and sometimes just want to be cosy on the couch. I wish I had a cat to curl up with and keep me warm. So seeing as I don’t have a cat I have found a rather lovely alternative – the Vagabond long hot water bottle. This is absolutely brilliant! You simply fill it up to the 3/4 mark with hot water and then wrap it around you. I like putting it across my tummy or around my shoulders. If you get a stiff neck or know someone who does this might be a nice pressie. It comes in lots of fun colours too, tap here to see.

I mentioned new skin treats; many of us will notice, and I say this for the ladies as much as for the gents, our skin changes as we get more “mature” let’s say. I remember first having that “Aaaaaghhh” moment early this year. I was sitting on a train quite happily thinking of the weekend ahead. I had planned to meet Elliot so I thought I would just refresh my make-up and as I looked in the mirror I thought: “Huh? Whose neck is that?” My skin had changed – it looked crepey and when I pinched it (like our beauty experts suggest doing to check for dehydration) it did not spring back! What was happening. I pushed and prodded and moved my head in to and out of the light hoping it was a trick of the sun but no it stayed. Surely I wasn’t witnessing… AGEING was I? In short YES.

So what to do next? I could ignore it but then I couldn’t undo what I’d seen. So I thought back to the many beauty shows I’d done and listened and learned from our experts and remembered that Perricone has a fabulous range of skincare for exactly this issue. I went on the QVC website and quickly typed in Perricone Sub D and watched to on air presentation video. I highly recommend them by the way. You learn so much and it’s easier to understand I find. Since then I’ve been using it every day, morning and night, and I love it! For me, and I can only speak for myself, I saw the results I wanted to see. The texture of my skin appeared smoother and like I had known it before. Relief! But here’s the thing I didn’t know, apparently the wrinkles around your neck start at the back of your neck and that’s why you should always apply the cream all the way round your neck. I must admit I hadn’t been doing that originally but I do now.

I’ve been using the Face Finishing Moisturiser Tint for a while now too (which Elliot sometimes uses too, I can tell when he’s been in the pot, hehe).

This week the results of my new skin regime paid off when I met with my dear friend Ruby and she said: “Wow, what make up are you using? Your skin looks amazing” to which I replied in delight “I’m not wearing any make-up!” I was so happy especially as I get so self-conscious with my rosacea.

Bobbi Brown

Talking of make-up, I tend to find as my skin changes throughout the year that I like to change my foundation too. I love IT Cosmetics as it’s particularly good for people who worry about redness and similar issues. I also liked using Westmore in the summer as it suited my summer skin (if you know what I mean) and now we are moving into winter I’d like to try something new. We happen to have a skin foundation set with brush from Bobbi Brown as our Beauty Big Deal this week which I think is well worth trying. I do use Bobbi Brown liquid bronzer and love it, and I carry my favourite lip set from Bobbi Brown in my handbag almost all the time. So it’s safe to say, I’m a fan. At the time of writing this I have not yet tried the foundation but I will be!

Emu boots

I’m going to round this up with my final cosy style tip – faux fur boots! Whether you’re like me and have the faux fur Skechers in various styles, or you’re a fan of other brands such as Pretty You or Emu, it’s time to get them out and start treating yourself. If yours are old and scruffy or perhaps you haven’t ever tried them it might be time to treat yourself. The winters can be long and cold… I’ve got my eye on these Emu Oxley fur cuff boots. Emu make fabulous boots. In fact both last year and this year I gifted my mum Emu low boots and she adores them. They are super comfortable and look stylish and laid back.

I must dash now as I need to water and re-pot my house plants. Take care and see you soon.

Eilidh

I love watching you present different types of shows. You are always so smiley and happy and you are one some of my favourite presenters (and it’s not just because you are a fellow Scot), it’s because you are good. I wish you were on the Main Channel more often. Is that going to happen?

Hi Darryl, thanks for your msg and for reading my blog. Hope you are both keeping well. Do you have dogs?

    Hi Eilidh
Watched your presentation of Peony flowers last week. Besides the fabulous arrangements I was admiring the pair of glasses that you were wearing. Could you please tell me what range they are from?
