Keeping cool and a wonderful wedding!

I’ve just stepped out of my car which reliably informed me it’s 30 degrees this afternoon!

I can’t believe the heat we’re currently experiencing in London. Having said that it may be pouring with rain as you read this where you are!

At the risk of being in the minority, I don’t like the heat… at all! Anything above 20C is too much for me. In previous blogs you may have read how much I love the cool, crisp winter mornings and will often be seen sporting a T-shirt for most of the year!

My cairn terriers loathe this weather at the moment. They’ll brave the sunshine for just a few minutes before finding a shady patch or residing to the cool tiles of the kitchen floor, which I must say I’m tempted by right now!

Ali & Colin - bride and groom

Speaking of weather we were all hoping for a glorious day for Ali Keenan and Colin’s wedding last week. The weather didn’t disappoint – glorious sunshine and high temperatures were eased a little by the steady breeze. It was an amazing day and couldn’t have been more perfect (oh and the food was divine too!!)

I was so thrilled to be invited to the big day. It was simply fabulous. I was so absorbed in the magical occasion that I only remembered to take a couple of pictures. This one of Ali looking breath-taking in her gorgeous dress with Colin by her side. I took this shortly after they left the church.

The lunch was very entertaining and this is my second picture of the beautiful display from Peony Flowers! You can just make out Kathy Tayler in the background having a fabulous time – as we all did. Did I mention how good the food was?!

Ali will soon be back on our screens and keep an eye out for all of the wonderful news of her wedding on her blog! She’s a dear, dear friend of mine and I wish her and Colin all the happiness in the world.

So, July is upon us and I’m thinking how it would be lovely to have another competition. I’ll bring you details of the prize next week! Jewellery perhaps πŸ™‚

Speaking of prizes I caught a replay of a very, very old episode of Bull’s-eye. I used to love that TV show and think it would be great if they brought it back. Seeing the prizes made me realise, yet again, how much technology has moved on. There was a radio cassette player and a huge camcorder. I’m sure in one episode I saw a Teasmade… I’ve always fancied one of those. πŸ™‚

I have dozens and dozens of cassette tapes but no player. πŸ™ I’m thinking I may just have to invest in one… Hopefully the old tape won’t tangle, twist or misalign. I remember carefully retrieving the tape, which had done just that, and using a pencil to slowly turn the spools to take the expelled tape back in. Those were the days!

I’ve some more fabulous shows on the way and I have the pleasure of launching Diamonique Week this coming Tuesday 7th July at 7pm. It’s a two-hour special and I’ve seen some of the line-up. Exquisite designs all inspired, of course, by the finest diamonds and gems money can buy.

Oh and the very night before, at midnight, I’m sleeping on the job (again!) with our Magniflex Today’s Special Value.

Take care and stay safe during this hot spell.

Would love to catch up with you on twitter. I’m @mecharliebrook.

    Hi Charlie,
I had a fantastic day on Saturday 4th July in Norwich meeting up with Charlie and Will from charlie bears at their signing day event.
I brought the Lewis anniversary bear and crumpet and my mum got a mohair mouse called whiskers.
I also gave a gift back to Charlie to say thankyou for the wonderful bears she creates which was 3 panda bears knitted with picnic set which included cake, sandwiches and drinks with them and a hammock for one to lay about. Ask Charlie to show you a picture of it. I also gave her pictures of all the bears myself and my mum have alltogeher 149 bears, plus 3 above is 152 in total now.
