With a title like that, you are probably thinking that I have been away somewhere and just got back but actually I’m referring to the ‘Just Landed’ page for fashion ‘new arrivals’ on our QVC website. I went on there specifically looking for a brand which was new to me, Lucca Vanucci, which was meant to feature in a show I presented on the Style channel on Monday with Glen Campbell. I wasn’t supposed to be presenting the Summer Fashion Day Preview show, but Alex Kramer’s little boy had been poorly overnight so I gladly stepped in to cover, particularly as I was presenting with Glen Campbell.
I so wish Glen and I had a regular fashion show together, he is such a joy to work with. I had prepped my shows prior to going on air at 2pm, as I was presenting three hours straight and absolutely loved a dress by Lucca Vanucci. Unfortunately, by the time the hour went live, it had been dropped from the running order as the stock hadn’t been loaded onto our computer system in time. We were a bit naughty (I blame Glen) and showed it at the end of the hour anyway, and hopefully it should be coming to QVC soon. I particularly loved the prints the dress came in and to my delight I discovered the same prints in other designs – I’ve ordered this one in both the pale blue and the pink… really pretty for the summer.
We also had a beautiful beaded lightweight cover-up from Frank Usher which I slipped on over the Kim & Co top I had been wearing in the previous hour – it’s on a special price £28.98 rather than £40 and in four colour choices. I hope there is still some stock available for the Frank Usher show tomorrow which is part of our two-day Summer fashion event.
Actually it would go very nicely with the Skecher’s TSV tomorrow, the Cali slider sandals already available to buy on pre-sell on our website in your choice of five colours.
Talking about Skechers, my children asked me what I would like for Mother’s Day last Sunday and I said a new pair of trainers. I have quite specific needs as I have ‘difficult’ feet and after an afternoon shopping, they came back with two different styles for me to choose the ones I preferred… they were both Skechers! I selected the pair you see pictured and I think my daughter, Sophie, will keep the other pair unless her thirteen-year-old stepdaughter, Amber, beats her to it! It just goes to show that Skechers really are loved across the age ranges.
And while we’re on the subject of Mother’s Day, the whole ‘I’ll cook for you Mum’ became quite interesting when Sophie suggested, ‘your lasagne Mum.’ You guessed it, I ended up preparing it (along with baking a Luscious Lemon Cake) and Sophie made salad and fries as an accompaniment and generally co-ordinated the timings. I didn’t mind, especially as there were seven empty plates at the end of our meal which looked so clean they hardly needed the dishwasher!
I was also treated to some lovely fragrant flowers, a beautiful candle and a butter dish from Wilfie – very appropriate as he likes a bit of ‘yellow’ as a treat. He’s also been enjoying lazing around on the new rug I brought home from QVC – it’s this week’s Big Deal on the QVC Extra channel until Sunday midnight and comes in different colours and sizes – this is the biggest one. It’s a good job he lay down on the pattern or you wouldn’t be able to see him on the black one although it is actually reversible.
My final Mother’s Day gift was this planter of Spring flowers from ‘im indoors’ which sets the decking area off beautifully.
All in all a lovely Mother’s Day, albeit the first anniversary of losing my beloved elderly cat, Poppy. I nipped down the garden to where she is resting and shared a few moments with her.
The day was capped off with watching a bit of television after Sophie and her family had left. Imagine my surprise when flicking through the channels to come across a Channel 5 programme looking back at game-shows and all of a sudden, there I was on screen! This picture was from the Price is Right and is from thirty-five years ago! Of course I remember doing the first two series of the show but in some ways, it’s like a different lifetime… weird!
After today, I have my usual five-day break so won’t be in until Thursday next week, which is Diamonique Day. I have three hours on air: 3pm – Coloured Diamonique, 5pm – Luxury Diamonique and 6pm – New Season Diamonique. The TSV that day is a friendship bracelet.
In the meantime I will be tied to my writing desk, initially copy-editing book 1 for Bookouture, which has a deadline of Monday, and then continuing to write book 2 with its end of April deadline – I’m panicking ever so slightly!! I know I mentioned last week that I might be able to show you the cover but apparently it is still be worked on so it also won’t be available to pre-order for another couple of weeks or so – no rush, I’d rather get it right especially as it’s not due out for a couple of months.
I also mentioned needing your help selecting my author picture – that will be next week now as I only narrowed it down to the final ten yesterday and Sharon, the photographer, has been rather busy at QVC of late with the teeth-whitening TSV on Wednesday. I have seen a marked improvement in the colour of my teeth in the five days I’ve used it so I’m pretty confident you will too if you ordered it.
One more thing before I head into work: I want to wish presenter Kathryn Goldsmith all the best for her wedding tomorrow – let’s hope the weather is kind after this strange week of sunshine and snow – we look forward to seeing the photographs.
Have a lovely weekend,
