Hi everyone! Hope your January is going well, that New Years resolutions are being kept and that if they aren’t you are enjoying every minute of your rebellion! Me? Well, if you read my last blog you’ll have seen that I started my healthy resolutions on the 15th. Only days into it but I’m hopeful for the future!
One of my new year decisions is to go alcohol-free for a month, possibly even more but we’ll see. It’s early days! I am particularly fond of a nice dry white or, of course, champagne. When the opportunity arises I also enjoy a cocktail. QVC tech expert, Lee Hohbein, makes the world’s best (and undoubtedly most potent) espresso martini.
A pina colada on holiday always goes down well, too. To my surprise there is a cocktail even I had never heard of until this year and that’s a ‘Julep’, also known as a mint julep. It sounds refreshing and lively, characteristics which appear to be shared by one of our newest make-up and skincare brands, Julep!
This Saturday at 5pm, Jenny Park will be mixing up a glorious K-Beauty cocktail to bring all of us beauty junkies together to celebrate the UK launch of Julep on QVC! Julep already have a massive, loyal following beyond our shores and have become well-loved for involving their customers with product innovations and for the empowering ethos behind the hashtag #BravePretty.
Jenny’s sister, Jane, founded the company with a vision that beauty should be fun and fearless for all women. She says, “If you can put it on, you can pull it off” and “Pretty is precious, dainty and polite. Pretty follows the rules, never speaks out of turn and always asks for permission first. Let’s stop it with the pretty, please. It’s time to take that box of crayons we call make-up and draw outside the lines”.
This means going for that bold eye or nude lip whoever you are and no matter how old you are, too. Just have fun and try something new. It’s all about enjoyment.
Having said that, there is a very serious skincare side to the brand – a Korean heritage or ‘K-Beauty’ as it has now become known. Jane and Jenny are of Korean origin and are living testimony to the efficacy of this skincare and beauty regime. Traditionally, the Korean skincare routine is ten steps!
Don’t worry, the Park sisters have made things nice and easy for us. Their Cleansing Stick is great and using it with their Charcoal Konjac Sponge really does seem to clarify the skin beautifully, for example. The aromas are gorgeous, too. People all over the internet are sharing the love for their skincare products and I can see why.
On to their cosmetics… wow! They know what they’re doing, that’s for sure. I’ve been trying out their Cushion Complexion which is a 5-in-1 skin perfector with turmeric. It really worked wonders around my eyes to brighten and conceal but did so without being greasy or settling into lines. Conversely, it didn’t make my skin feel dried out. Perfect!
Their With a Twist Mascara is brilliant, too! The brush is customisable depending on what you want to achieve. With a twist the bristles are compacted close to each other to get right into every lash, twist again and the brush lengthens, spreading the bristles out so you can separate lashes and build length. Very clever, ladies!
I am really looking forward to spending time with the Julep team on Saturday and hope you’ll be joining us at 5pm for the launch of this multi award-winning beauty company!
