I’ve turned 40!

My giant playing cardsHello!

As I write this I'm looking out on glorious sunshine. As you read this, who knows what the weather is doing! It really can't make up its mind at the moment!

I've turned 40! I'll be honest I was dreading it a little last year, but now that I've reached it I'm not too bothered at all. Until that is when my son was working out how old I'd be when he's 40!

I had a terrific day with my family. I popped down to the Isle of Wight to see Mum and Dad and was lucky to receive some lovely gifts.

Mum always likes to find something a little quirky, so bought me these large playing cards (pictured above)! We love them, although playing Snap is a little tricky!

Fruit cakeI'm pleased to say Dad looks really well following his back operation a month or so ago, and when heading back he gave me his homemade fruit cake. It really is out of this world and I'm having trouble leaving it alone.

It was about a foot square to start off with and within a few days… well, you can see what's left. I'm ashamed to say I haven't shared it at all!

So the question is, does life really begin at 40? If so, what have I been doing for the last 39 years?!

Take care and see you soon.

Charlie x

Ps. Time for another slice!!

This week's fact – The nearest major galaxy to our own is Andromeda. Travelling at the speed of light, it would take around 2.2 million years to reach it.

    Hi Charlie.
Oh dear you’ve reached the BIG 40 !!!. I can beat that by another 10. They do say 40 is the new 20, not sure what that makes me though ???. I had my birthday on 16th and the family brought me a beautiful multi gem ring from the big gem event in April which I fell in love with. Just seen on 28th is Bellas Charlie Bears are you doing any???? If not I might have keep her away from the TV [ or I might have a stroppy dog again].
Bella and I say “Happy Birthday” even though we’re alittle late, but better late than never [ so they say].
    Take care Bella and Debby

Belated but sincere Birthday Wishes Charlie, Life does begin at forty, you have the confidence of experiance and the supplness to enjoy ,,,whatever you fancy.
I loved being forty, I was a bit like Jean Brodie, I was in my prime, I wasnt so pleased with 50 but 40 I loved, I stayed 40 for a few years I liked it so much.
I am pleased that you can see your Dad is back to himself again, and your greedy fruit cake looks wonderful, you should learn how to make it.
I did see you slipping in the shoe facts, you wouldnt believe the pairs of shoes(boxed) I own, and I am not a selfish person by nature but I will not let anyone wear my shoes, I will give them but not lend them,it is so unhygenic, my mother would not let my sister use my shoes or me hers.
I do like the new Chiswick Park, but some of the sets could do with a little more light, just like everything its what your used to,its a different atmosphere from MP HOUSE.
Hope the weather picks up soon, summers slipping on,hope it picks up for theschool hols.
Keep Well Charlie,my best to the family,
I believe if frogs had wings, they wouldnt bump their bums.

Hello Marg, thanks for getting in touch. I will pass on your feedback regards lighting. What I don’t miss about being 20 was the struggle to pay my car insurance! A friend of mine recently paid for his son to be insured… The insurance cost more than the car!
I don’t think I’ve ever lent shoes, although I did see my son hobbling around the garden in my tennis shoes, it looked very funny!
    Kind regards

    HI Charlie.
Bella and I will be having a late night On Thursday watching the TSV,[shame your no doing one of the later shows]but Bella will be watching cuddling up to Simon. No one can do Charlie Bears like you do [or I think that’s what she thinks].she won’t watch any one doing them.

Hi Charlie, I meant to say my b/day was 21st, and I had a lovely day,WILLS and I share midsummer with lots of people but we (my husband and I) share our wedding aniversary on HARRYS birthday. Theres a few years difference in our ages but the days are important, not the number you have had.
I was reading an article about facial changes, you said ears grow with age, I said the nose changed throughout your life, well we were both correct and an add on your eyes never change size, they are the same size from the day your born, I find that difficult to believe but it is a very reliable source, so thats another fact for your book, I think the socket must stay the same but the eyes grow to show more as they takes up more room as we grow.
Hope the weather improves for the festival, it didnt look too good tonight, the weather can change so quickly so heres hoping.
Regards to the family, keep well Charlie,
