It’s been quite an Easter!

It’s been a while since my last blog as I have been away catching up with family over the Easter break.  A load has been happening and it’s been quite a rollercoaster of a ride.

Simon 1 editWe had some sad news just before Easter as one of our cats, Scooby, was very poorly. After a few days at the vets on a drip we discovered he had severe kidney failure and the vet wasn’t hopeful. He was only six years old but after a great deal of treatment and special diets, we eventually decided he was getting too ill and with no prospect of getting any better, we had to take him back to the vet one last time. It was very sad as he was a lovely and very affectionate ginger tom and very much part of the family.

It wasn’t long after this that we left to visit my family in Scotland and as the kids were due to play with their cousins we loaded the car with bikes, wellies, coats and cossies so we had every eventuality covered. We couldn’t set off for the 372 mile trip until midday and only got as far as Manchester before we had a blow out on the M6. I didn’t fancy changing the wheel with all the lorries whizzing by so we called the services.Simon 3 edit

Well, after a few hours were back on our way but with our space saver wheel on.

As it was a bank holiday we had to drive the last 250 miles at 50mph! Didn’t get to Stirling until gone 10pm…… long day.

We had lovely weather and a great time catching up with family and friends and travelled east to west and back again, clocking up 1100 miles before getting back home. We only had one day at home before we were off on our travels again, this time to Felixstowe.

My wife had decided we should get another dog (I didn’t disagree but was a bit worried about all the extra work). Our current dog, Jamie, was re-homed and when she emailed the person who we got him from they told us that for the first time since Jamie, they had another. It seemed like Kismet, so off we went to East Anglia to pick up Toby.

He is a year old Brittany and is a lovely friendly boy but a complete lunatic who hasn’t been trained very well. Additionally, he seems determined to eat the remaining cats we have so I believe the next few weeks will be a bit ‘interesting’.

I can look forward to being back at work this week………. for a rest?

Hi Simon, It sounds like you’ve been having quite a time of it. I do send lots of love. Scooby looks so lovely. We have recently been though similar. Our dear black cat, Billy, was well until we discovered lumps on his neck before Christmas. It was diagnosed to be cancer, and despite great care and treatment, we took him to the vet for the last time early this month. I was heartbroken, and I still miss him so much. I do hope Toby is settling in. Please don’t let him eat your remaining cats! Lots of love to you and your family, Love watching you on QVC! Sadie X

    Hi Marie and Sadie
Thank you so much for your thoughts and comments. We all really miss Scooby but Toby is settling in well and although still very focused on Ruby and Lucky (the other cats), he has had a scratch on the nose a few times and that seems to have made him a bit more wary! I had forgotten how much energy a young dog has and we are constantly having toys and socks and shoes brought to our feet….. But it’s all fun!
    Take care.
