Isn’t it funny how certain people or things come into your life at just the right moment, almost as though the universe planned it. Well that happened to me yesterday afternoon during a busy show at QVC.
I had been showing the Lock n Lock Today’s Special Value offer that I use when I am working to take my salad lunch in (this was the picture I omitted to attach to the tweet I tweeted just prior to the show) and of course at home for storing things in cupboards, the fridge and the freezer – they’re brilliant, so I hope you got yours. Later in the show we had a product which I ordered the minute I got off air… let me explain.
Earlier this week, as I was sitting enjoying breakfast, there was an almighty crash, bang, wallop from upstairs. I raced upstairs to be confronted by our son holding the shower screen which had fallen off the wall and had been the cause of the noise. Fortunately, the screen itself wasn’t damaged but the hinges holding it at the top and bottom were broken. Not ideal, but hinges can be replaced so no damage done… or so we thought until one of us was running a shower later in the day and water started pouring through the ceiling from the hole in the bath that we had thought was just a chip!! We worked out a technique of standing with one foot on the hole and a cup underneath the bath to catch any water that still managed to escape so that we could still use it but I was wondering what to do in the slightly longer term as we are planning on having the bathroom refitted fairly soon so obviously didn’t want to splash out on a new bath until then (excuse the pun).
Lo and behold, my saviour… SUPABOND! It’s a sealant and construction adhesive that works under water and is perfect for repairing water leaks – like I said, what perfect timing. I’ll let you know how we get on with it but if you want to check it out watch the amazing demonstrations on our website by putting 510016 into the search bar.
Along with some painting and decorating this week, both at our son’s house and ours. I’ve also been having a massive clear-out of my desk and filing cabinets in readiness for moving them upstairs in to the other half of the loft room from my writing room. Does anyone else still have household bills etc. from twenty years ago??? No wonder my daughter called me a hoarder. There was so much paper to shred that we broke the old shredder and had to buy a new one. I must say it is very satisfying to get rid of stuff that is no longer relevant in my life – I’m only talking about paperwork here of course!!!!!
So, despite having a few days off from QVC, I haven’t managed to write a single creative word of my next novel – am I going to make my self-imposed end of October deadline I wonder? Looking doubtful at the moment. By the way, if you’ve been thinking of buying Alice in Theatreland for your newly acquired Kindle from QVC, this weekend would be a good time to do it as it is on a special 99p price reduction. For more on that and other book news go to my www.juliarobertsauthor.com website.
I’m sure many of you will be aware that we have a Beauty Day tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to my first hour of Skinsense, the new range by Ultrasun’s Abi Cleeve which has been having sell-out shows. I’m particularly impressed with the neck and décolletage cream – I wonder if you’ve tried it yet? There are also more OPI 21st anniversary shows this weekend at noon tomorrow with Ali Young and noon Sunday with me, so this would be a good place to mention the winner of last week’s competition. Congratulations to Jane Dunkley who identified that the OPI nail strengthener is called Nail Envy – I do hope ‘Nail Green-eyed Monster’ brought a smile to your face even if you weren’t the one lucky enough to win!
So, I’ve been sleeping pretty well lately, mostly out of total weariness from all the decorating, but if you haven’t, do check out Craig Rowe’s blog this week where he is not only talking about two sleep-related TSVs we have coming up next week but also sharing sleep tips. I was recommending the This Works Pillow Spray to the assistant in the hairdressers this week – I’m a massive fan – and it’s just one element of a terrific TSV we have from them next Wednesday.
Then, on Thursday, we see the return of Silentnight to QVC with a pair of pillows as the TSV. I’m going to be honest and say that the pillows are a little on the soft side for me but ‘im indoors absolutely loved them, so if you prefer a soft/medium pillow you could give these a go.
Well, if I’m going to make my Mally show at 4pm this afternoon I’d better dash – hope to see you there and for Fashion on Friday at 5pm today featuring Nina Leonard. And for your peep ahead at next week’s fashion Look of the Week take a look below.
Have a great weekend.
